Chapter 3: When Shame Silences Us
Shame is different from guilt.
Guilt says, “I did something wrong.”
Shame says, “There’s something wrong with me.”
It’s the kind of pain that hides in silence — a quiet weight that shapes how we see ourselves, how we pray, and how we relate to others.
One woman shared how she carried her shame like a second skin. Not visible, but always there. Mistakes from her past haunted her, and the fear of being judged kept her from opening up.
She smiled, served, and looked “fine.”
But inside, she was drowning.
Until one night, completely exhausted, she whispered to God, “I can’t carry this anymore.”
And in that moment, she remembered this verse:
“Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” — Psalm 34:5
That one verse began her healing.
Because shame says, “Hide.”
But God says, “Come home. You’re still Mine.”
This chapter is for the silent strugglers.
For those smiling on the outside but breaking inside.
For the ones who think their past disqualifies them from joy.
You are not your mistakes.
You are not too far gone.
And God is not ashamed of you. 💛
Have you ever felt silenced by shame?
