Shoutout to Manong Jeepney Driver. Let's give him the recognition he deserves.

On my way to school, I couldn’t find my wallet after getting on the jeep. I checked every pocket in my bag, but it was nowhere to be found.

Thankfully, I had three pesos left in my pocket, but it wasn’t enough, so I moved to a seat behind him.

I told him, “Kuya, I think I lost my wallet, can I just pay you three pesos?”

He replied, “AYAN!!” in a louder voice, and for a second, I thought he was upset.

Then he said, “That’s what I like, someone who speaks up, unlike others who just stay quiet and don’t pay.”

When I handed him the three pesos, he gave me thirty instead, saying, “Here, you might not make it home later, this should cover your fare.”

I was about to cry. That was his first trip of the day, and I didn’t expect him to help, especially since jeepney drivers are struggling more than ever. But I truly appreciated it. Despite us being in similar situations, there are still people willing to lend a hand.

Before I got off, I thanked him, and he said, “Ingat ka, Anak.”

It’s the little acts of kindness that make a difference.
