🌍🛰️ TERRA — NASA’S EYE ABOVE EARTH

What if you could watch the entire Earth from space?

Meet Terra (EOS AM-1) — NASA’s powerful Earth-observing satellite, launched on December 18, 1999. Unlike spacecraft exploring distant planets, Terra was built to study the world beneath it and understand Earth as one connected system.

From orbit, Terra observes clouds, atmospheric conditions, forests, wildfires, oceans, ice, deserts and changes across Earth’s surface. Its five scientific instruments — MODIS, ASTER, CERES, MISR and MOPITT — collect valuable data that helps scientists study climate and environmental change.

🌕🚀 LUNAR RECONNAISSANCE ORBITER — NASA’S EYES ON THE MOON

Since its launch on June 18, 2009, NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has been circling the Moon, creating incredibly detailed maps of its surface and helping scientists understand our closest celestial neighbor like never before.

Equipped with 7 powerful scientific instruments, LRO studies the Moon’s terrain, temperature, radiation, composition, and surface features. Its high-resolution cameras have captured remarkable details of lunar craters, mountains, landing sites, and permanently shadowed polar regions.

One of its most fascinating goals is investigating the Moon’s polar regions for water ice and other resources that could become important for future human exploration.

More than a decade after arriving at the Moon, LRO continues to explore, map, and reveal new secrets of our lunar world. 🌑✨

🚀🔴 MAVEN — THE ATMOSPHERE HUNTER

Mars is cold and dry today… but billions of years ago, it may have had a much thicker atmosphere and flowing liquid water. So what happened to it? 🌌

NASA launched MAVEN — Mars Atmosphere and Volatile Evolution on November 18, 2013, to investigate one of Mars’ biggest mysteries: how and why the Red Planet lost so much of its atmosphere to space.

MAVEN entered orbit around Mars in September 2014 and spent more than 11 years studying the planet’s upper atmosphere and its interaction with the Sun, solar radiation, and solar wind. ☀️🔴

Its observations revealed important clues about how solar activity can drive atmospheric particles away from Mars and helped scientists better understand how the planet evolved from a potentially wetter world into the cold, thin-atmosphere planet we see today.

MAVEN’s mission officially ended in 2026, but its scientific legacy continues. The data collected by this remarkable spacecraft will help scientists uncover more secrets about Mars’ ancient climate, atmosphere, and history. 🔭

🔴🚀 MARS RECONNAISSANCE ORBITER — NASA’S EYES ON MARS

Since entering Mars orbit in 2006, NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has been giving humanity an incredible view of the Red Planet.

Equipped with the powerful HiRISE camera, MRO can capture extremely detailed images of the Martian surface, revealing ancient valleys, craters, dunes, cliffs, and other geological features.

But MRO does much more than take pictures. Its SHARAD radar can investigate layers beneath the Martian surface and help scientists search for buried water ice. It also monitors Mars’ atmosphere, dust storms, weather changes, and surface activity.

One of its most important jobs is helping relay communication between Mars rovers and Earth, allowing valuable scientific data to make the long journey home.

From mapping the Red Planet to searching for hidden ice, MRO continues to be one of NASA’s most important eyes in the exploration of Mars. 🔴🌌

🚀 New Horizons is the NASA spacecraft that gave humanity its very first close-up view of Pluto. Launched in 2006, it traveled billions of kilometers to reveal Pluto's icy mountains, blue atmosphere, and the famous heart-shaped region that amazed the world. After its historic Pluto flyby in 2015, the mission continued into the mysterious Kuiper Belt, where it explored the ancient world Arrokoth in 2019. Even today, New Horizons is still sending scientific data from one of the most distant regions ever explored by a spacecraft.

🚀 Cassini: The Mission That Changed Saturn Forever! 🪐

What secrets were hidden within Saturn's magnificent rings? For over 20 years, the Cassini mission revolutionized our understanding of the Solar System.

From discovering powerful water plumes on Enceladus, to revealing methane lakes on Titan, and capturing more than 453,000 stunning images, Cassini delivered some of the greatest scientific discoveries in space exploration history.

In 2017, the mission ended with an extraordinary final act. Rather than risk contaminating Saturn's potentially habitable moons, Cassini made a controlled dive into Saturn's atmosphere—sending its final data back to Earth before disappearing forever.

🪐 Juno isn't just orbiting Jupiter—it's uncovering the hidden story of the Solar System's largest planet.

Since arriving at Jupiter in 2016, NASA's Juno spacecraft has flown closer to the giant planet than almost any mission before it.
