The Sad Story of Charity Moses: A Lesson for Young Women
Charity Moses was a young lady from Okrika in Rivers State, Nigeria. According to reports that surfaced on social media, Charity got involved in a situation that sadly turned fatal — and her story now serves as a painful reminder and a warning to other young women.
It all began when a man sent Charity the sum of N9,000 as transport fare, asking her to visit him. For reasons known to her alone, Charity chose not to honour the invitation. Instead, she kept the money. When the man demanded that she return the money, Charity reportedly insulted him and blocked all communication.
Angered by her refusal and insults, the man allegedly claimed he had reported her to a local deity — a spiritual force believed by some to punish people who offend others unjustly. Charity ignored the threat, but soon after, she developed a strange and severe sickness. According to her family, she suffered terribly as her health deteriorated. Out of fear and desperation, she confessed everything to her family, explaining how it all started with N9,000.
Her family tried everything possible to save her. They sought help online, begged people for assistance, and prayed for healing. Sadly, all efforts failed. Charity Moses lost her life to the strange illness and has since been buried.
Whether or not the spiritual angle of this story is true, one thing remains clear: what Charity did was wrong. Collecting someone’s money under false pretence and mocking them afterward is deceitful and unfair. Yet, taking a human life — or seeking vengeance through harmful means — over N9,000 is cruel, extreme, and shows how dangerous some actions and reactions can be in our society.
This story is a warning:
Young women must understand that deceit, no matter how small, can have unexpected consequences.
Always live with integrity — if you know you will not fulfil a promise, do not collect money for it.
Also, as a society, we must learn not to repay small wrongs with extreme harm.
There are legal ways to seek justice if someone offends you. Resorting to violence, diabolical means, or revenge only destroys lives and reputations.
Today, Charity Moses is gone. May her soul find rest, and may her story remind every young lady — and young man too — that your actions today can return tomorrow in ways you may never expect.
Choose honesty. Choose caution. Choose peace.
Rest in peace, Charity Moses.
