The Sad Story of Charity Moses: A Lesson for Young Women

Charity Moses was a young lady from Okrika in Rivers State, Nigeria. According to reports that surfaced on social media, Charity got involved in a situation that sadly turned fatal — and her story now serves as a painful reminder and a warning to other young women.

It all began when a man sent Charity the sum of N9,000 as transport fare, asking her to visit him. For reasons known to her alone, Charity chose not to honour the invitation. Instead, she kept the money. When the man demanded that she return the money, Charity reportedly insulted him and blocked all communication.

Angered by her refusal and insults, the man allegedly claimed he had reported her to a local deity — a spiritual force believed by some to punish people who offend others unjustly. Charity ignored the threat, but soon after, she developed a strange and severe sickness. According to her family, she suffered terribly as her health deteriorated. Out of fear and desperation, she confessed everything to her family, explaining how it all started with N9,000.

Her family tried everything possible to save her. They sought help online, begged people for assistance, and prayed for healing. Sadly, all efforts failed. Charity Moses lost her life to the strange illness and has since been buried.

Whether or not the spiritual angle of this story is true, one thing remains clear: what Charity did was wrong. Collecting someone’s money under false pretence and mocking them afterward is deceitful and unfair. Yet, taking a human life — or seeking vengeance through harmful means — over N9,000 is cruel, extreme, and shows how dangerous some actions and reactions can be in our society.

This story is a warning:

Young women must understand that deceit, no matter how small, can have unexpected consequences.

Always live with integrity — if you know you will not fulfil a promise, do not collect money for it.

Also, as a society, we must learn not to repay small wrongs with extreme harm.

There are legal ways to seek justice if someone offends you. Resorting to violence, diabolical means, or revenge only destroys lives and reputations.

Today, Charity Moses is gone. May her soul find rest, and may her story remind every young lady — and young man too — that your actions today can return tomorrow in ways you may never expect.

Choose honesty. Choose caution. Choose peace.
Rest in peace, Charity Moses.

Short Script: The Weight of Hope

Title: The Weight of Hope

CHARACTERS:

MUSA — The father, mid-40s, exhausted but resilient.

AISHA — The eldest daughter, about 12, hopeful but worried.

SAMIR — A young boy, about 7, innocent and observant.

MARIAM — The youngest, a toddler, is always hungry.

ALI — Another child, about 5, eager to learn.

MOTHER — Musa’s wife, quiet strength.

LANDLORD — Stern, impatient.

SCENE:
A small compound in front of an old clay house. Musa sits on a wooden stool, elbows on his knees, head in his hands. His wife sits behind him holding the baby. The children stand around him. The landlord appears at a small window.

AISHA (softly, tears in her eyes)
Dad… they have chased me for fees. They say I can’t come back until we pay.

SAMIR (holding out a torn shoe)
Dad… my shoe is torn. I can’t wear it anymore.

MARIAM (pulling at Mother’s dress)
Dad… I'm hungry.

LANDLORD (leaning out the window, stern)
Musa! I need your rent — today!

ALI (looking up, hopeful)
I need a new book, Dad. My teacher said I must get it.

MOTHER (quietly, almost a whisper)
Musa… what are we going to eat today?

(Musa lifts his head slowly. He looks at each child’s face, then at his wife. He breathes heavily, fighting tears.)

MUSA (voice steady but strained)
My children… my wife… I know you are tired. I know you are hungry. I know you want more… and I want more for you too.

(He stands up, placing his hand on Aisha’s shoulder.)

MUSA (firmly)
Tomorrow, I will find a way. We will not give up. Aisha, you will go back to school. Samir, we will mend your shoe. Mariam, you will eat. Ali, you will have your book.

(He turns to the landlord.)

MUSA
And you… You will get your rent. But for now… let me fight for my family.

(He gathers his family close, embracing them. The landlord looks on silently.)

NARRATOR (Voice Over)
Behind every weary father is a heart beating with silent battles.
Behind every hungry child is a dream worth fighting for.
And behind every family struggling to survive is a hope that one day, life will be kinder.
May we never forget that hope is the strength of the poor — and love is the greatest wealth of all.

The curtain falls.

A Touching STORY

Title: My brother WHO SOLD ME OUT FOR MONEY

Growing up, we were two boys against the world. No father. No wealth. Just a mother’s prayers and my promise to protect my younger brother, Emeka, no matter what.
When I, Chidi, turned 17, I dropped out of school so Emeka could finish. I did odd jobs, cleaned shops, carried cement at construction sites — anything to send him to secondary school. I didn’t mind. I believed we were building our future together.
Years later, I finally saved enough to start a small supply business. I made Emeka my partner. My own blood — who else could I trust? I taught him everything, signed documents in both our names, and opened my home to him. I did not know I was training my betrayer.
Then came our breakthrough: a big contract worth millions. I was so proud. I told Emeka to handle the paperwork because he was “family”.
The client cleared the payment. But it never hit my account. I called. They said, “Your brother collected it.”
Just like that — gone. Emeka disappeared overnight. His phone is off. His clothes are gone. He left me behind with debts, shame, and questions I still can’t answer.
I thought I knew pain — but betrayal from your own brother? That pain cuts deeper than poverty ever did.
Some nights I still pray for him. I tell Mama he’s “fine and working abroad” — she doesn’t know he sold my trust for quick money.
I’m still rebuilding, brick by brick. But deep down, one question burns:

“Would you forgive him if you were me?”
“When betrayal comes from blood, it cuts deeper than a stranger’s knife. Would you forgive? 👇 Drop your answer and tag someone who needs to see this.”

. SCRIPT FORMAT FOR STAGE PERFORMANCE
Title: The Remedy of Love
Cast:

• Amara – Young married woman
• Mama Efe – Her wise, elderly mother
• Jide – Amara’s husband

SCENE 1 – MAMA EFE’S HUT

Set: A warm, rural interior. Woven chairs. Herbs hanging from the ceiling. A small fire was burning in a clay pot.
(Amara enters, distraught. Tears in her eyes. She slams down a shawl and kneels at Mama Efe’s feet.)
Amara (angrily):
Mother, I can’t do this anymore! I’m done with Jide. I want to end it. No — I want him gone. I want to poison him!
Mama Efe (calmly):
Poison, you say? That is not a small thing, my daughter.
Amara (desperate):
He doesn’t love me. He barely talks. Comes home late. No affection. He’s cold. I’m drowning, Mama. Please... help me.
Mama Efe:
If you truly wish to poison him... I will help. But you must follow six conditions.
Amara:
Anything, Mama. Just tell me.
Mama Efe (softly):
One: Be kind. Speak gently, no matter what.
Two: Be beautiful—let your heart shine through your smile.
Three: Care for him. Not because he deserves it, but because you’re choosing to.
Four: Respect him. A man bends where he feels honored.
Five: Forgive. Bitterness is poison you drink, hoping he will die.
Six: Invest in him. Time, attention, prayers. You must give before you take.
(Mama Efe hands her a small pouch of turmeric powder.)
Mama Efe:
Put a pinch in his food daily. But more importantly—do what I’ve told you. This is the only way it will work.
SCENE 2 – AMARA AND JIDE’S HOUSE (A MONTAGE)
Lighting shifts as time passes. Multiple small scenes show Amara cooking, smiling at Jide, massaging his shoulders, listening. At first, Jide is distant. Then confused. Then slowly, he smiles more. Talks more. Laughs. Offers flowers. Hugs her.
(Soft music plays to convey emotional transformation.)
