TO THOSE WHO ONCE CALLED HIM FRIEND
Where are the voices that once roared in his defense?
The hands that clapped when he took the stage,
The eyes that saw a leader, unshaken,
Now look away,
As the man who gave his all lies frail,
The strength once in his shoulders
Now nothing more than the weight of time.
Where is the loyalty?
The bond that once echoed through the halls of power,
Now silence.
He who stood for a cause is bent,
Emaciated and weak,
But still, his spirit burns
Not for himself,
But for the people he served.
For the nation he once swore to lift.
Can you not see it?
The man you once stood by is broken,
But not his love for the land he called home. What of the promises made?
What of the friendships forged in the fire of struggle?
Do you turn your back when his body is frail, His health slipping through the cracks?
To the government,
Where is your conscience now?
Where is the heart that should feel the weight Of one of your own,
A son of the Philippines?
Do not let him slip into shadows
Without a chance at the light,
Without a moment to rest,
To heal,
To find peace in his remaining days.
The people will remember
Not just for the battles he fought,
But for the dignity he gave you,
For the strength he lent you when you were weak.
Do not abandon him now.
Do not leave behind a man
Who once gave everything for his country.
Let the courts decide
But let mercy find its way,
For his name will echo In the hearts of those who still care.
God save PRRD.
God save the Philippines.
