✈️ Crazy Aviation Record: 64 Days in the Sky Without Landing!
Did you know two pilots once stayed in the air for over 64 days — that’s more than two months nonstop — without landing a single time? 😱
This unbelievable event happened from December 4, 1958, to February 7, 1959, over the deserts around Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The flight was piloted by Robert Timm and John Cook, two American pilots who set out to break the world record for continuous flight.
They flew a specially modified Cessna 172 Skyhawk — a small, four-seat airplane — turned into a record-breaking endurance machine. To stay in the air for so long, the plane was refueled mid-air! A truck drove underneath on a straight road and pumped fuel through a hose while they flew low over it.
The pilots had to eat, sleep, and stay in that tiny cockpit for weeks — cramped space, engine noise, and no real bed. After 64 days, 22 hours, and 19 minutes, they finally landed back at McCarran Field in Las Vegas.
This wasn’t just a stunt — it was an endurance challenge meant to push the limits of aviation and human tenacity. The pilots and crew coordinated fuel, supplies, and even minor repairs while flying.
This flight is still remembered as one of the greatest feats of endurance in aviation history — a testament to courage, innovation, and the adventurous spirit of early flight pioneers.
