THE NIGHT MAZEO OKOCHI WAS EXPOSED
In Oloroma Village, the name Mazeo Okochi was enough to make people afraid.
He was widely suspected of using dark powers against anyone who crossed him. People whispered that those who had problems with him rarely remained well for long. Yet nobody had ever caught him doing anything.
During a village meeting, Mazeo suggested something that one spiritually devoted villager strongly opposed.
“You may frighten others,” the man told him, “but you cannot frighten me. The God I serve will expose you.”
Mazeo stared at him and simply replied, “We shall see.”
That night, around 1 a.m., while the village slept, Mazeo quietly went behind the man’s bungalow with a lantern. He dug a hole in the ground and prepared to bury a mysterious charm.
But he didn’t know that three young men were returning from a late-night football match.
When they heard the sound of digging, they moved closer to investigate.
Then one of them whispered, “Wait… is that Mazeo Okochi?”
They were shocked.
Before Mazeo could escape, the three youths raised an alarm and blocked his way. The family came rushing outside, and together they seized him.
Mazeo was taken before the king.
Under questioning, the man who had terrified the entire village finally confessed to several of the atrocities he had committed.
The king and the elders were furious.
After deliberation, they banished Mazeo Okochi from Oloroma Village.
That night, the secret everyone feared was finally exposed.
Sometimes, the truth may hide in darkness, but it cannot hide forever.
