Kyrgyzstan is a dream for anyone who loves huge mountains, turquoise alpine lakes, wild valleys and nomadic culture.

From the Tian Shan mountains to some of Central Asia’s most beautiful lakes, these are the places I would put on your list:

Ala-Kul sits at around 3,532 m and is reached by a challenging mountain trek, with the route crossing a pass around 3,860 m.

Köl-Suu is even more remote, near the Chinese border, with dramatic cliffs rising around the lake. A border permit is required, and getting there involves a long 4×4 journey.

Matera is especially magical when the lights come on after sunset and when the first morning light hits the stone buildings.

🥖 MUST-TRY FOOD
Try Pane di Matera IGP, the city’s famous traditional bread, and Cialledda, a local dish made with Matera bread, tomatoes and simple local ingredients. 🍅

🏨 MY BIGGEST TIP:
Stay at least 1 night — ideally 2 nights. I stayed for two nights, and I’m so glad I did. The city feels completely different after sunset and early in the morning.

📌 Although Matera is in Basilicata, it’s also a perfect stop to add to a Southern Puglia road trip.

• 💵 Cash is King: You buy tickets at the castle gate, but they don’t always take cards. So,bring cash to be safe
• 🗓️ No Reservations: You can’t book online, so arrive at 10:00 AM to beat the crowds.

Things to Know Before Visiting the Faraglioni di Baia dei Mergoli 💙

Also known as Baia delle Zagare, this stunning beach is one of Puglia’s most iconic spots, located in Gargano National Park between Mattinata and Vieste.

⚠️ Access is limited, so plan ahead!

🎟️ Free public access: Only a small number of free daily passes are available and must be collected in person from the Mattinata Tourist Information Office with a valid ID.

🏨 Hotel access: Staying at Baia delle Zagare – Handwritten Collection or Hotel Baia dei Faraglioni gives you the easiest access via the panoramic cliff elevators. Limited day passes may also be available.

⛵ Best option: Join a boat tour from Vieste or Mattinata to admire the famous sea stacks from the water.

☀️ Good to know:
• The beach is covered with white pebbles, so bring water shoes.
• The cliffs block the sun from around 4:30–5:00 PM in summer.
• Paid parking is available near the hotels.

Add this colorful island to your Amalfi Coast trip 🇮🇹

📍Procida isn’t part of the Amalfi Coast, but if you’re flying into Naples, it’s one of the easiest and most rewarding day trips you can make it.

Italy’s smallest inhabited island is full of colorful houses, authentic local charm, fresh seafood, peaceful beaches, and far fewer crowds than Capri.

⏰ Perfect as a day trip from Naples
Travel time: 30–60 minutes depending on the ferry.

⛵️ How to get there
• High-speed hydrofoil: Departs from Molo Beverello, takes about 30–40 minutes.
• Regular ferry: Departs from Calata Porta di Massa, takes around 1 hour, is slightly cheaper, and can carry vehicles.

🏖️ Best beaches
• Spiaggia di Chiaiolella (Ciracciello) – Sandy beach with beautiful sunset views.
• Spiaggia di Ciraccio – Long, quiet beach with dramatic rock formations and crystal-clear water.
• Pozzo Vecchio (Il Postino Beach) – Famous for the film Il Postino and perfect for swimming and photos.
• Spiaggia della Lingua & Spiaggia della Silurenza – Easy to reach from the port and great for a relaxing stop.

🌈 Don’t miss these spots
• Marina di Corricella – The island’s iconic fishing village with colorful pastel houses and waterfront restaurants.
• Terra Murata – The highest point on the island, filled with history, narrow streets, and panoramic views.
• Belvedere Elsa Morante – One of the best viewpoints overlooking Corricella.
• Chiesa di Santa Maria della Pietà & Chiesa di Sant’Antonio Abate – Beautiful churches worth visiting during your walk.

🍽️ Where to eat
• Caracalè – Waterfront Mediterranean cuisine with fresh seafood and local wines.

💡 My tip: I actually prefer having dinner back in Naples, where you’ll find many more famous restaurants and food options.

Most people only see Positano during the day… But the real magic begins after sunset. 🌙

As the sun sets, the crowds begin to disappear and thousands of lights slowly illuminate the cliffside. From above, Positano transforms into a sparkling masterpiece that feels even more magical than it does during the day.

If you’re visiting the Amalfi Coast, I highly recommend staying in Positano for at least one night. Don’t rush to leave before sunset—enjoy the golden hour, have dinner with a view, and experience the town after dark. It’s a completely different atmosphere and one you won’t forget. 💙🇮🇹

Right in front of the Old Town with one of the best views in Menton.

• Restaurants line the promenade, making it ideal for dinner with a view.

3. Visit Menton’s beautiful gardens 🌿
Thanks to its unique microclimate, Menton is one of the warmest towns on the French Riviera, allowing exotic and subtropical plants to thrive.
• Val Rahmeh Botanical Garden – tropical paradise
• Serre de la Madone – peaceful and less crowded

4. Experience Menton’s famous lemons 🍋
Menton is renowned for its fragrant lemons with a sweeter, less acidic flavor.
• Try lemon tart, lemon gelato, limoncello and local citrus products.
• Visiting in February or March? Don’t miss the famous Lemon Festival (Fête du Citron).

5. Visit the local market 🧺
Stop by Marché des Halles to browse local cheeses, olives, fresh produce and regional specialties.
👉 It’s one of the best places to experience everyday life in Menton.

6. Take a quick trip to Italy 🇮🇹
Ventimiglia is only about 20 minutes away by train.
→ Enjoy authentic Italian food, browse the local market and experience a completely different atmosphere in just one day.

Welcome to the Gargano Peninsula, the “spur” of Italy’s boot. While the south is famous for flat sandy beaches and olive groves, Northern Puglia is a wild paradise of towering white limestone cliffs, hidden sea caves, and a massive ancient forest 🌳

📍Trani – the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” famous for its stunning waterfront cathedral.
