Maimonides was one of the greatest Jewish philosophers to ever live, yet his life was shaped by the Muslim world, from the city he was born in to the empire he served. Nearly 900 years later, people from all over the world still visit his grave.

His story is a reminder that the region’s history is full of shared chapters, not just divided ones.
