Breadwinners are the toughest among the family. They are trained to hide their emotions even they are hurt and broken. They try to paint a smile even when their hearts were bleeding. Kasi wala silang choice. Walang ibang choice kundi ang mgpakatatag para sa sarili at sa pamilya.

Watching Toni Talks with Jenela in Japan hits differently. Only breadwinners and Ofws’ know the struggle behind every balikbayan boxes. The stories between “nkapadala na ako, antayin nyo nlang” were still kept unsaid. Sleepless nights and stressful days were kept unseen because we don’t want our family to know because again, breadwinners were expected to be strong and independent. Sometimes you feel like giving up because of the heavy weight you have in your arms but then you think of the once who needs you.

It’s not easy to be away. Dili pud dali ang kahimtang sa mga tawong nilangyaw para sa kaugmaon sa pamilya. If you know someone who are breadwinners, please try to give them a tap on the shoulder and say “We are proud of you”, you did an excellent job.
