CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company that secures cloud and endpoint environments, has introduced new Falcon Data Protection features to secure data in real time across AI driven environments. These updates are built to prevent GenAI data leaks, stop insider risks, and unify fragmented legacy tools so organisations can innovate with AI more safely.

Key Highlights:

• Falcon Data Protection protects sensitive data as it moves across devices, cloud services, SaaS applications, and GenAI workflows.

• Extends protection beyond the browser with runtime coverage for local applications and cloud runtime environments.

• Falcon Exposure Management AI Discovery detects LLMs, AI applications, and agents on managed endpoints to remove blind spots from shadow AI.

• AI powered data classification uses LLMs to identify credentials, secrets, and sensitive data with fewer false positives.

• Insider threat dashboard correlates identity, HR, and data movement signals to speed detection and response.

• Unified detections boost coverage across endpoint, cloud, GenAI, and SaaS with out of the box rules for data loss and GenAI misuse.

Elia Zaitsev, Chief Technology Officer at CrowdStrike, said: “AI has reshaped how data is created and shared, but legacy data loss prevention and posture management tools weren’t built to secure data in the modern era. Falcon Data Protection follows sensitive data everywhere it moves, across devices, cloud services, SaaS applications, and GenAI workflows. By delivering the real time visibility and enforcement customers need, we’re making it easier to consolidate cybersecurity at scale and securely innovate with AI.”

Infoblox, a leader in DNS security and threat intelligence, has exposed “Vane Viper,” a malicious adtech group operating under the guise of legitimacy. The group, identified as AdTech Holding — parent company of PropellerAds has been actively distributing malware, fraud campaigns, and deceptive ads across global networks.

Key Highlights:

• Vane Viper malvertising domains were seen in 50% of Infoblox customer networks, with over 1 trillion DNS queries in the past year.

• Operates through PropellerAds and other subsidiaries of AdTech Holding to run malware, phishing, and ad fraud campaigns.

• Uses shell companies and opaque ownership to shield accountability while maintaining global operations.

• Infrastructure overlaps with Webzilla/XBT Holdings, previously linked to Methbot ad fraud and Russian disinformation campaigns.

• Employs TDSs, cloaking, and push notification abuse to evade detection and maintain persistence.

• Controls a network of 60,000+ domains, with lifespans ranging from a few days to more than 1,200 days.

• Connections to Russian oligarchs, convicted fraudsters, and adult platforms further highlight its risk and scale.

Dr. Renée Burton, VP of Threat Intel at Infoblox, said: “Our research has increasingly found that cybercriminals aren’t just exploiting adtech platforms, sometimes, they are the adtech platforms. Vane Viper is one of several large-scale TDS operators we are tracking, all of which seem to have emerged in 2015 and controlled by Russian diaspora in Europe and Cyprus.”

This report underscores how parts of the adtech ecosystem are fueling global digital risks, prioritizing profit over user safety.
