MY STORY: HOW ALCOHOL ALMOST TOOK EVERYTHING AND HOW I TOOK MY LIFE BACK.
By
There was a time in my life when I was no longer happy with drinking⌠yet I continued to drink anyway.
Alcohol was no longer fun. It had stopped being social. It had stopped being harmless. It had become something else, something heavier. Something controlling.
People used to say I wasnât serious about life. Some said I lacked discipline. Others said I had no willpower. But what they didnât understand was this:
I also wanted to stop. Deep down, I desperately wanted to stop. Yet somehow, I couldnât.
Thatâs the thing about alcohol; it slowly takes power from you until you donât even recognize yourself anymore.
THE LIFE I PRETENDED TO HAVE
From the outside, my life looked okay. I had a salary. I had side hustles, sometimes i sold household items for more money. I had money coming in. I had people around me. Laughter was never missing.
But inside⌠everything was falling apart. I was constantly broke. No matter how much I earned, alcohol always found a way to empty my pockets. I was stuck in a cycle, earn, drink, regret, repeat.
My relationships suffered. My peace disappeared. Monday mornings became torture. Every week ended in regret, and every new week began with guilt. And yet, I kept drinking.
THE ILLUSIONS ALCOHOL CREATES
Alcohol doesnât just empty your wallet, it confuses your mind.
I remember nights in bars, surrounded by people, music loud, laughter everywhere. It felt like happiness. It felt like connection.
But it wasnât real.
One drink would become many. And suddenly, everything would look better than it really was. Conversations felt deeper than they were. People seemed more genuine than they actually were.
Even the people around me werenât always what they seemed.
Some were just there for the drinks. As long as I was paying, I was âboss,â âbig man,â âlegend.â The table was always full. The energy was always high.
But nobody corrected me. Nobody warned me.
