The United Arab Emirates has expressed its solidarity with the Republic of India over the victims of an air force plane crash in Assam state, which resulted in the deaths of several soldiers.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims, and to the government and people of the Republic of India over this tragedy.

At least five IAF personnel were killed after an AN-32 transport aircraft met with an accident while landing at the Jorhat airbase in Assam and burst into flames on Saturday, defence officials said.

According to the IAF, the incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. after the aircraft landed at the Jorhat Air Force Station. The aircraft reportedly burst into flames shortly after touchdown, triggering an immediate emergency response from Air Force and airport firefighting teams.

🇮🇳🕊️ Indian national Nishanth Uirthanathan passed away due to medical complications aboard MT Celestial at Duqm Port in Oman. The Embassy of India in Muscat confirmed that it is coordinating with the ship management company and local authorities to complete all necessary formalities and arrange the early repatriation of his mortal remains to India.

The embassy expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

The development comes amid growing concerns over the safety of Indian mariners in the region. India has lodged a strong protest with the United States over recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Gulf of Oman, which have reportedly claimed the lives of three Indian nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs described the use of lethal force against civilian shipping as unacceptable and warned that such incidents threaten maritime safety and regional stability.

The UAE has unveiled an expanded initiative to provide prosthetic limbs to Palestinians injured in the Gaza war, helping amputees regain mobility and rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Under the "Step of Hope" programme, patients will be assessed at the UAE Floating Hospital in Al Arish, Egypt, while teams in Gaza use 3D scanning technology to customise prosthetic limbs. The devices will then be manufactured and delivered to patients through a coordinated medical network.

The initiative, part of Operation Gallant Knight 3 and implemented in partnership with the International Charity Organisation, also aims to boost Gaza's economy by supporting local prosthetics manufacturing and expanding rehabilitation services.
