Karachi’s Eid-ul-Adha culture has slowly turned from “shoq” into pure torture for innocent animals. From nonstop bike revving, fireworks, loud DJ music, reckless dancing, teasing animals for videos, forcing them into stressful crowds, and treating them like entertainment props, this is not celebration, this is cruelty.

Every year in Karachi, streets become chaos before Eid-ul-Adha. Youngsters gather around qurbani animals just for “show off,” making reels, doing atish baazi, drifting bikes near terrified animals, and creating unnecessary noise all night long. Many animals remain stressed, frightened, injured, and sleep deprived because of human behavior that has nothing to do with Islam or sacrifice.

Qurbani is about compassion, respect, sacrifice, and Sunnah, not flex culture.

An animal brought for qurbani deserves care, calmness, food, water, and kindness. Scaring them with fireworks, lasers, loud horns, smoke bombs, and crowds for social media attention memes is unacceptable. Karachi especially needs to normalize responsible behavior during Eid instead of glorifying toxic “shoq.”

If your celebration causes fear and suffering to a helpless animal, then it is not shoq, it is jahalat.

Respect animals. Respect the spirit of Eid-ul-Adha. 🤍🐄
