An additional three-month extension may be approved by the hiring department and will apply from the date of appointment.

The changes aim to give Emiratis more time to prove their capabilities while supporting employment for citizens, including people of determination and children of Emirati mothers.

New internal committees and organisational structures are also being implemented across departments to enhance efficiency, with a focus on fairness, inclusivity, and alignment with the Ruler’s humanitarian vision.

Dubai International Airport (DXB) welcomed 46 million passengers in the first six months of 2025 — its busiest first half ever, despite regional disruptions caused by the Iran-Israel air conflict in May and June.

The airport recorded a 2.3% year-on-year increase from January to June, with 22.5 million passengers in Q2 alone — up 3.1% from last year. April saw 8 million travelers, making it the most active April on record, while January marked the peak month with 8.5 million passengers.

Daily passenger traffic averaged 254,000, and monthly figures hovered around 7.7 million.

Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths praised the team's resilience and operational excellence, saying the growth reflects the UAE’s strength and the airport community’s ability to adapt and maintain global connectivity.

Starting September 2, 2025, the US will roll back flexible visa rules, making in-person interviews mandatory for most applicants — even kids under 14 and seniors over 79 who were previously exempt.

The stricter rules affect non-immigrant visa categories like the B1/B2 tourist and business visas and are expected to increase wait times at US embassies worldwide, including for UAE-based Indian, Filipino, and Arab expats.

Waivers will now only apply to a limited group — mainly diplomatic visa holders and B1/B2 renewals under strict conditions, such as applying from your home country within 12 months of expiry, with no past visa refusals or ineligibility flags.

This move signals a return to pre-pandemic screening protocols and tighter security vetting.
