Africa is ready to work with partners who add value on African soil, building industries and consequently creating opportunities for young people in the continent. We must move from extractive partnerships to productive ones, from exporting raw materials to exporting innovation and finished products.

To maximise our cooperation with partners like the European Union, Africa is deepening trade integration, with regional economic communities at the base and the African Continental Free Trade Area, a single market of 1.4 billion people, as the ultimate driver.

We call on the EU to join Africa in advancing digital transformation to open new opportunities, strengthen cooperation on climate adaptation, and support fair and managed labour mobility.

Addressed the 7th African Union-European Union Summit, Luanda, Angola. President Joรฃo Lourenรงo of Angola, who is also Chair of the African Union, and EU President Ursula von der Leyen were present.

Others were AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, EU Council President Antรณnio Costa, and many EU and AU heads of State and Government.

My recent visit to the Sultanate of Oman was never meant to be symbolic, it was a mission of purpose. During that trip, I held strategic engagements with the Oman Investment Authority and its CEO, H.E. Abdulsalam Al Murshidi, to secure partnerships that would strengthen Botswanaโ€™s minerals and energy future.

Today, those discussions have become action.

The Government of Botswana, through the Ministry of Minerals and Energy, is now signing Memoranda of Agreement with leading Omani companies in areas critical to our national development, including:

- Implementation of 500MW of Solar PV to expand clean energy
- Development of petroleum bulk coastal storage in Walvis Bay
- Reliable petroleum supply and regional trading
- Construction of the Tshele Hills inland petroleum storage facility
-Cooperation in minerals exploration and development

These agreements are not just paperwork, they are the beginning of major infrastructure, energy-security, and industrialisation projects that will shape Botswanaโ€™s future.

This is how we build a self-reliant, resilient, and forward-moving Botswana. One step at a time, we turn commitments into reality

Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to sign a controversial anti-LGBTQ+ bill into law, not one legalizing LGBTQ+ activities. The bill, titled the "Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill," would significantly expand the criminalization of LGBTQ+ individuals and their supporters in Ghana ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ญ.

So after the bill , if you are even a supporter of LGBTQ+ people , youโ€™ll face some punishment too .

The President says we must protect Ghanaian family values .

Moral lesson: I think he is one of the best African presidents now .
