Walking into a new gallery for the first time can sometimes feel a bit intimidating.

The quiet spaces and unfamiliar artists might make you wonder if you need a certain level of knowledge to really appreciate what you see.

The truth is: you don’t.

Galleries are for everyone; you don’t need to be an art historian, collector, or expert to enjoy an exhibition.

Visiting a gallery is a chance to slow down and explore art in your own way. There’s no single right way to look at art, your thoughts, feelings, and interpretations are all part of the experience.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or a regular gallery-goer exploring a new exhibition, a little confidence can make every visit even more enjoyable.

We’ve curated a guide featuring advice from gallery experts to help you feel a little more confident.
