Before you enter any negotiation, you need to know your BATNA. 💡

What is BATNA?
It stands for Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement.
To master any negotiation, whether you’re asking for a raise, a promotion, or pitching a deal, you must go in prepared:

1️⃣ Know Your Value
2️⃣ Know Your Best Alternative (BATNA)
3️⃣ Consider the WATNA

Always enter the room prepared for every scenario! 📈

Too many professionals approach corporate negotiations like an argument,
but the corporate table has its own rules:

Rule #1: Negotiate the issue, not the person.
Frame the discussion as a collaboration, not a confrontation.

Rule #2: Document everything before the conversation.
Bring your results, market data, and impact metrics; data wins where emotion loses.

Rule #3: Give them a way to say yes.
Small framing shifts change everything. "I’d like to discuss my compensation structure" lands much better than "I want more money."

Corporate negotiation is a skill; start treating it like one.

Walking into a negotiation unprepared is the fastest way to lose your leverage.

Before you step into the room, check if you're making any of these 5 critical mistakes:

1️⃣ Skipping Research:
Not knowing market rates or the other party's interests is like operating without a diagnosis.

2️⃣ Negotiating From Fear:
If your primary goal is just "not losing the deal," you’ve already given away your power.

3️⃣ No Walk-Away Point:
If you don't know your minimum or ideal outcome, they'll sense it.

4️⃣ Undefined Leverage:
You need to know what you bring to the table and what alternatives exist.

5️⃣ Too Emotionally Invested:
Attachment to a single outcome leads to bad concessions.

P.S. Preparation isn't optional; it's the strategy.

You can dramatically improve your negotiation outcomes by changing just one habit.

Great negotiation isn’t about talking the most.
It’s about knowing two things:
Your numbers.
And yourself.

When you understand the value
you’re bringing to the table and the outcome you’re aiming for, you negotiate from a position of confidence.
Preparation beats pressure every time.
Know your worth.
Know your numbers.
Know your non-negotiables.
