BREAKING NEWS:
I WILL STOP PROMOTING PETER OBI THE DAY ANYONE CAN SHOW ME ANOTHER NIGERIAN POLITICIAN WHO, BASED ON PUBLIC RECORDS…
1. Has not been found guilty of corruption, theft of public funds, financial misconduct, or abuse of office.
2. Has no established public record of looting government resources or enriching himself through public office.
3. Is not collecting multiple pensions, excessive allowances, or maintaining a lifestyle funded by the taxpayer after leaving office.
4. Has a personal, educational, business, and public-service history that can be traced, verified, and scrutinised from beginning to end.
5. Can satisfactorily explain the source of his wealth before, during, and after holding public office.
6. Built successful businesses and created jobs before becoming a career politician.
7. Has a reputation for prudence, accountability, and transparency rather than extravagance and waste.
8. Can point to measurable achievements in office that are still visible and verifiable years after leaving.
9. Has consistently invited scrutiny of his records and publicly challenged critics to present evidence of corruption against him.
10. Is discussed more often for his documented record than for scandals, controversies, or court battles.
11. Has not relied on ethnic, religious, regional, or tribal sentiments as the primary defence of his public reputation.
12. Can withstand decades of political attacks without the emergence of credible evidence of personal enrichment from public funds.
13. Is known for sacrificing personal comfort in service rather than using public office as a route to wealth accumulation.
14. Has a public image that largely aligns with the lifestyle he projects and the values he preaches.
15. Has opponents who spend more time attacking his supporters or spreading already-debunked information than presenting verifiable evidence against his character or stewardship.
Until then, I reserve the right to continue writing about Peter Obi.
You do not have to support him.
You do not have to vote for him.
You do not even have to agree with his political philosophy.
But if you insist that there are many politicians better than him, then kindly produce one whose public records, personal conduct, financial history, and stewardship of public resources compare favourably.
The challenge remains open.
Bring evidence.
Leave emotions aside.
The challenge is simple: not perfection, but comparison.
Based on publicly available records, show a politician with a cleaner, more transparent, more accountable, and more verifiable record.
Righteousness exalts a nation, and until we get to that point where all of us can sensibly and righteously choose the best hand to lead us, I have a moral duty of doing that in my little capacity.
The floor is yours.
