This quote expresses deep gratitude to Allah for the greatest blessing a person can have being part of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Out of billions of people in the world, Allah guided us to Islam and allowed us to follow the final Messenger. This is not something we achieved by our own power; it is a mercy and favor from Allah.
Being from the Ummah of the Prophet ﷺ means we were given the Qur’an as guidance, the Sunnah as a way of life, and the hope of intercession on the Day of Judgment. Many people are still searching for truth, but Allah blessed us with it.
So when we say this statement, we are reminding ourselves to remain humble, thankful, and committed to following the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ.
Allah reminds us of this favor in the Qur’an:
“They consider it a favor to you that they have accepted Islam. Say: Do not consider your Islam a favor to me. Rather, Allah has favored you by guiding you to faith.”
Qur'an 49:17
