The National Media Authority in the UAE officially took legal action against two individuals for violating media content standards.
The penalties were imposed after both individuals promoted offensive content during a live social media broadcast that disrespected UAE culture.
Their actions also breached standards of civilizational heritage and undermined the UAE’s national identity, while offending the prevailing societal values, as stated by the National Media Authority.
In addition to the legal measures, the authority suspended a publicity permit issued to one of the violators for a duration of three months.
The NMA firmly asserts its commitment to preventing the exploitation of digital platforms for content aimed at gaining views or engagement at the expense of societal values, as well as any material that incites controversy or undermines the values, principles, and national identity of the UAE.
