I am a married woman, and for the past eight years, my husband and I have desperately wanted to have a child.
Unfortunately, doctors told me that my womb had been badly dâmãged and that carrying another pregnancy could be extremely difficult and dânger0us for me.
We tried different options, but nothing worked.
Then one day, my husband and I made a decision. We approached our 23-years-old maid and asked if she would be willing to help us have a baby. After discussing everything, she agreed.
The arrangement was that she would become pregnant by my husband, carry the pregnancy, give birth to the baby, and after delivery, the baby would be handed over to my husband and me. She would then return to the village.
We discussed everything and agreed on the arrangement. We even gave her 400k( around 298 dollars) as part of the agreement.
At that point, I believed everything was settled.
I was excited.
My husband was excited.
We started preparing for the baby.
Throughout her pregnancy, I treated her like a queen. I pampered her, made sure she ate well, bought things she needed and made sure she had everything she required.
Whenever I looked at her growing stomach, I saw the child I had been praying for over the years.
I bought baby clothes and diapers. I prepared a room for the baby. I even imagined the day I would finally carry my long-awaited child home.
Then the day finally came.
My maid went into labour. After hours of pain, she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.
I was overwhelmed with joy. I thought my dream had finally come true.
But immediately after we returned from the hospital, everything changed.
She held the baby tightly and refused to hand him over to us.
At first, I thought she was simply emotional after childbirth. I reminded her about our agreement and begged her to remember everything we had discussed before the pregnancy.
But she looked at me and said:
“I know what we agreed, but I cannot give you my baby.”
I was completely shocked.
I reminded her about the money we gave her and everything she had agreed to before becoming pregnant. But she still refused.
She told me that she had carried the baby for nine months, endured the pregnancy and labour, and after seeing and holding the child, she could no longer imagine giving him away.
I couldn't believe it.
I kept thinking about everything I did for her throughout the pregnancy. I pampered her like an egg because I believed she was carrying the child that would finally complete our family.
Now, after everything, she is refusing to give us the baby.
**I honestly don't know what to do anymore. 😢**
If you were in my shoes, what would you do?
Would you fight for the agreement you both made, or would you let her keep the baby?
Should I involve our families, seek legal advice, or try to settle the matter between us?
Please, I need your honest advice. What steps should I take to handle this situation?
