یہاں "علمِ خودی" سے مراد وہ اعلیٰ روحانی و فکری تعلیم ہے جس کی بنیاد خود شناسی، خودی کی تعمیر، شخصیت کی بلندی، اور انسان کی باطنی عظمت پر ہے۔ اقبال کے نزدیک خودی وہ جوہر ہے جو انسان کو خدا سے ہمکلام کر سکتا ہے، جو اسے بندگی سے آزادی اور غلامی سے نجات دلا سکتا ہے اقبال کی شکایت یہ ہے کہ موجودہ مکتب یا تعلیمی نظام ایسے بلند افکار کو برداشت نہیں کر سکتا۔اس نظام کا مقصد آزاد فکر، انقلابی سوچ یا روحانی ارتقاء نہیں، بلکہ غلامی کے سانچوں میں افراد کو ڈھالنا ہے۔خودی کا تصور ایک بیدار ضمیر اور بلند حوصلہ انسان پیدا کرتا ہے، جو موجودہ مادی نظام کے لیے خطرہ بن سکتا ہے۔
