DUBAI 7 July 2023: Emirates has taken off to Montréal, marking the airline’s first passenger flight to Québec’s culture capital, and its second gateway in Canada. Emirates flight EK243 departed with 340 passengers, including a VIP delegation and media onboard at 0300hrs on July 5. The new daily service to Montréal complements Emirates’ seven weekly services to Toronto and takes the airline’s North American network to 14 destinations and a total of 18 across the Americas....

FUJAIRAH 7 July 2023: As part of its efforts to expand its reach, SalamAir will begin to operate weekly flights to Fujairah, starting 12th July, 2023. SalamAir, based in Muscat, Oman, will be offering weekly flights to Fujairah, with four flights a week on Mondays and Wednesdays. DUBAI 7 July 2023: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started operating individual mobility stations for bikes and e-scooters at 11 sites along 9 km route in Hatta. These stations feature a variety of soft mobility means like bikes, mountain bikes, and e-scooters, facilitated by the global micro-mobility provider, Lime. During the first quarter of 2023, the trial phase of operating bike and e-scooter stations garnered a significant turnout from diverse segments of the community....

ABU DHABI 7 July 2023: The Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution (PP) has ordered the imprisonment of a woman of Arab nationality, in connection with the investigation initiated into the publication by the accused of a video on social media likely to incite hate speech, and which constitutes an affront to men and domestic workers, in violation of general customs and ethics....

It had ordered the arrest of the woman, in the context of the “buzz” generated by the posting of the offending video on various social media platforms

In a Higher Education context this has a wide range of meaning – many of our back office activities are already automated and rely on digital technologies - but from a learning perspective - AI tools such as ChapGPT and other Generative AI tools have caused much controversy and concerns in the academic community....

Where AI can be very helpful is in allowing us to digitalise content and to allow students a much more flexible approach to learning.

DUBAI 9 June 2023: H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, has reviewed the progress of key development projects in Hatta during a visit to the region. The projects are part of the first two phases of the Hatta Master Development Plan. Sheikh Ahmed visited the Hatta Border Crossing, which handles entry and exit procedures for 350,000 travellers per month, said Wam....

ABU DHABI 9 June 2023: The UAE's economic growth is expected to remain robust, averaging 4.6 per cent from 2022 to 2024, driven by higher oil prices and improved business confidence, according to the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF). The AMF's "Arab Economic Outlook Report" forecasts a 4.2 per cent growth rate for the UAE in 2023, accompanied by a decline in the consumer price index to 2.9 per cent in 2023 and 2.57 per cent in 2024....

DUBAI 1 May 2023: Indian national, Amit Ramkumar, a 13-year old autistic boy studying in grade eight broke the Guiness World Record for the largest magnet number, by forming a 2D image of the number '44' using 44,000 magnets. His father Ramkumar Sarangapani, who currently has 18 Guinness World Records to his credits, said "The number 44 has a huge significance since as per the latest statistics from the USA, one in every 44 children being born is diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), which was 1 in 150 in the year 2000....

ABU DHABI 18 April 2023: The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has successfully rescued and rehabilitated a dugong calf, which was discovered abandoned at the Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve. EAD rangers found the young dugong alone, without its mother, and far away from any herd. Strong winds may have contributed to his separation from his mother and group. The dugong was named "Malqout," which means "saved" and "whose owner is not known" in Arabic, reflecting his condition....

Malqout was fortunate enough to receive advanced veterinary care and marine facilities in the UAE after his rescue in 2019.
