🇵🇰🇦🇫 "We must stop terrorism together," says Pakistan's Interior Minister in Kabul

Federal Interior Minister Naqvi paid a one-day visit to Kabul on Sunday, where he held key talks with his Afghan counterpart Sirajuddin Haqqani.

Both sides discussed counterterrorism cooperation, border security, and the rising threat posed by the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Naqvi called for joint efforts to stop terrorist groups from destabilizing the region.

He also highlighted Pakistan’s decades-long support for Afghan refugees, stating:
“Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan brothers and sisters — our doors remain open for legal entry.”

The visit follows recent moves to improve ties, including the revival of the Joint Coordination Committee and the upgrade of diplomatic missions in both countries.

Naqvi was warmly received by Afghan officials and met with senior Afghan and Pakistani representatives during the visit. Discussions also included drug trafficking, cross-border movement, and repatriation of undocumented Afghans.

Islamabad Court Suspends YouTube Ban on More Channels Amid Free Speech Concerns

An Islamabad district and sessions court on Saturday suspended a lower court’s directive that had ordered the blocking of 27 YouTube channels, extending the relief to five additional content creators.

The decision came a day after the same court halted the ban for journalists Matiullah Jan and Asad Ali Toor, who had filed revision petitions challenging the earlier ruling. On Saturday, Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka granted similar relief to Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Orya Maqbool Jan, Abdul Qadir, Uzair Anwar, and Umair Rafique. A separate plea from Habib Akram was postponed until July 14.

The original ban was issued last month on accusations of spreading “fake, misleading, and defamatory” content targeting the government and military. Those affected included journalists, political commentators, and influencers based both in Pakistan and abroad.

Petitioners argued that no prior notice had been issued before the block orders, violating Article 10-A of Pakistan’s Constitution, which guarantees fair trial and due process. The judge acknowledged this point, saying it warranted further legal review.

The move to ban entire channels — instead of addressing individual content pieces — drew sharp criticism from rights groups.
The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) called the block “a conflation of dissent with criminal activity” and an overreach that suppresses free expression.

Legal organizations such as the Supreme Court Bar Association and digital advocacy groups like the Forum for Digital Rights and Democracy (FDRD) also denounced the ban, calling it a violation of fundamental rights and a blow to press freedom.

Earlier in March, YouTuber and media founder Farhan Mallick was arrested in Karachi over alleged anti-state content. His arrest — under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws and the penal code — triggered backlash from civil society and media unions. He was granted bail in April.

Meanwhile, access to X (formerly Twitter) was only restored in May after a year-long ban following the 2024 general elections.

🇮🇳 India Match England's Total as Third Test Hangs in the Balance at Lord’s

LONDON – India responded strongly to England’s first-innings total of 387, reaching the exact same score on day three of the third Test at Lord’s, thanks to a composed century from KL Rahul and fifties from Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja.

Despite losing Rahul and Pant just before and after lunch, India recovered well after a brief collapse at 254-5. An injured Shoaib Bashir was forced off the field, weakening England’s spin attack, allowing Jadeja to lead the lower-order resistance.

Pant, playing with a bruised finger, reached 74 before a risky single led to a brilliant direct hit from Ben Stokes just before lunch. Rahul, who earlier joined the Lord’s honours board again with a gritty 100, fell the very next ball, edging Bashir to the slips.

Jadeja showed resilience once again, registering his third consecutive fifty-plus score. He partnered with Nitish Kumar Reddy and later with Washington Sundar to add crucial lower-order runs. Sundar and Jadeja’s 50-run stand brought India within touching distance of parity before Woakes removed Jadeja for 72.

The final few wickets tumbled quickly, with Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes cleaning up the tail. Sundar made 23 before Archer had him caught at point, ending India’s innings exactly on 387.

England began their second innings cautiously, with Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley remaining unbeaten on 0 and 2 respectively, from just one over bowled before stumps.

With two days remaining and both teams tied on first-innings totals, the third Test is finely poised. The series remains level at 1-1, and a win here could shift the momentum with two matches to go.

🏏 Day 3 Highlights:

KL Rahul: 💯 (100 off 182 balls)

Rishabh Pant: 74 (run out)

Ravindra Jadeja: 72

India: 387 all out in 119.2 overs

England: 2/0 at stumps in 1 over

Series: Level 1-1 | Test: Perfectly balanced heading into Day 4

🇺🇸 U.S. Exit from Afghanistan Still Under Fire — Bagram Claims Rejected

Speaking in Florida, Pete Hegseth sharply criticized the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, calling it a “disastrous retreat” that sent shockwaves around the world.
He blamed political decisions — not military personnel — for what he described as a moment of "weakness" in U.S. global leadership.

> “Under Trump, the strategy was peace through strength. No more endless wars or failed nation-building,” Hegseth said.

Meanwhile, Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. envoy for Afghan peace, rejected recent claims that China has taken control of Bagram Airbase, saying such reports are false.

Political analyst Aziz Maraj added:

> “These narratives often come from frustration. Some in Washington regret how the mission ended, and now try to reshape the story — but claims about Chinese or Russian control are highly exaggerated.”

More than seven months into Trump’s second term, there is still no clear U.S. policy toward Afghanistan's current leadership — apart from isolated exchanges and ongoing criticism of how the withdrawal was handled.

At least 31 Palestinians were shot dead on Saturday while trying to reach an aid distribution point in southern Gaza.

Hospital officials say the victims, mostly civilians, were on their way to collect food when gunfire erupted. Another 28 people, including four children, were killed in Israeli airstrikes the same day.

🚨 The Red Cross says its field hospital saw the largest wave of deaths in over a year — over 100 wounded, mostly with gunshot wounds.

Eyewitnesses described scenes of horror: people struck in the head, children wrapped in white shrouds, and families screaming at Nasser Hospital.

Israel says it fired warning shots at “suspicious individuals” and claims no casualties were reported. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which runs the aid sites, says no incident occurred near their locations.

📍 Since May, nearly 800 people have been killed while trying to access food in Gaza.

💬 “We were just trying to get food. They shot at all of us,” said Abdullah al-Haddad, wounded in the leg.

Free Imran Khan in 90 days or we’ll quit politics,” says KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has issued a bold ultimatum: free former Prime Minister Imran Khan within 90 days — or the PTI leadership will walk away from politics altogether.

Speaking in Lahore during a gathering of PTI workers and provincial lawmakers, Gandapur accused powerful institutions and political parties of clinging to control for decades. “We either reclaim justice or we accept a life of submission. There is no middle ground,” he said.

Gandapur reaffirmed PTI's commitment to the constitution and the rule of law, but challenged the status quo. “If I’m accountable for the people’s tax money, then every institution and every government must be answerable too.”

He praised the overwhelming support for Imran Khan in Punjab, calling it “indescribable.” “Every heartbeat here echoes Imran Khan’s name,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Gandapur and PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar convened a high-level meeting in Lahore, bringing together parliamentary members from both KP and Punjab.

Gandapur said his convoy to Lahore symbolized solidarity with the Punjab lawmakers who were removed from office. “This journey is about peace, unity, and brotherhood — nothing else,” he said.

Upon arriving in Lahore, Gandapur thanked the people of Punjab for standing by Imran Khan. “Every citizen here is a guardian of PTI — Punjab is the heart of this movement,” he declared.

The PTI caravan traveled from Islamabad to Lahore, with party members from the National and Provincial Assemblies gathering earlier at KP House in the capital.

📍 Deported Afghan Families Face Food Shortages in Kabul Camp

🔸 A number of Afghan returnees recently deported from Iran say they are struggling with hunger and lack of support in a temporary camp in Kabul.

🔹 Families at the site describe worsening economic conditions and say they’re unable to provide basic food for their children.

Mir Ahmad, one of the deportees, said:

> “In this hot weather, there are so many problems. My children only ate at night—there’s no food left. No one is helping the poor or the migrants.”

Shah Mahmood, another returnee, added:

> “So far, we’ve received nothing to eat in this camp, and I don’t know if we ever will.”

🔹 In response, the Ministries of Refugees and Economy say efforts are ongoing to assist the returnees.
Deputy Economy Minister Abdul Latif Nazari said:

> “We are in direct contact with international organizations, local businessmen, and investors to help address the growing challenges facing our returning migrants.”

📌 Aid groups have repeatedly pledged support for deportees arriving from neighboring countries—but many say help on the ground remains slow and limited.

🔹 Netanyahu Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize During White House Visit

WASHINGTON – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has officially nominated former U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, calling it a gesture of recognition for Trump’s role in past diplomatic efforts.

The nomination was presented during Netanyahu’s visit to the White House on Monday. Handing over the letter, Netanyahu told Trump, “It’s nominating you for the Peace Prize, which is well deserved, and you should get it.” Trump, visibly surprised, responded, “Wow, coming from you, in particular, this is very meaningful. Thank you very much, Bibi.”

The move comes as both leaders seek to reinforce ties between the U.S. and Israel amid ongoing criticism over Israel’s military operations in Gaza and last month’s brief but intense conflict with Iran.

While the Nobel Committee's official deadline for nominations has passed for this year, Netanyahu’s gesture is largely seen as symbolic — a public show of alignment with Trump ahead of the U.S. elections and at a time of growing international scrutiny.

Supporters describe the nomination as a message of unity between allies. Critics, however, view it as a political favor amid mounting global pressure on Israel over its 21-month-long war in Gaza.

Earlier this year, Pakistani lawmakers also nominated Trump for the Peace Prize, citing his role in easing tensions in South Asia.
