ANGUILLA SUMMER FESTIVAL - STAMP RELEASE
The Philatelic Bureau of the Anguilla General Post Office, in collaboration with the Anguilla Stamp Advisory Committee is pleased to announce the release of an issue of postage stamps on 2nd August 2016 under the theme:” ANGUILLA SUMMER FESTIVAL”.
This release of the above stamp issue is intended to coincide with and highlight a number of events which normally take place during the most exciting and festive season on Anguilla; CARNIVAL now known as Anguilla Summer Festival. This stamp issue will comprise six (6) stamps and will depict some of the major events associated with the Summer Festival; of notable interest will be a stamp depicting the Queen show, featuring MS. KIMDRA SMITH WEBSTER (deceased), Miss Anguilla 1999 and a stamp featuring the Calypso Show which will depict deceased calypsonians such as: THE MIGHTY THUNDER, LORD ANYTHING, LORD SURPRISE 'EM, LC, MIGHTY BEAVER and MIGHTY KINGER.
Commemorative sets and First Day Covers will be available for purchase on Tuesday 2nd August and thereafter at the General Post Office and at the CARNIVAL TICKETNG BOOTH at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Center for the duration of the Summer Festival.
Sets of this issue will be available at EC $9.80 and First Day Covers at EC $11.80.
The General Public and all Stamp Collectors are encouraged to purchase sets or First Day Covers of this very momentous and culturally rich stamp issue.
