It is a perfectly sweet and flavourful New Year’s Cake in Saranda and around
The Vasilopita, a sweet bread traditionally baked in honor of St. Basil’s act of charity, is a beloved treat.(Village is just 15 km from Saranda is named after St. Basil)

This cake is full of meaning, and is baked with a coin hidden inside of it.

Vasilopita is a Greek rooted cake with a citrus 🍋🍊🧉flavor that's not too sweet. It's traditionally served for breakfast or brunch on New Year's Day.

Each person gets a slice starting with the youngest — whoever gets the coin 🥇hidden in their piece will have good luck 🍀for the year!
