How do you cut under-sink pipes like tailpieces? The plastic is too thin to use a PVC cutter and a little too thick to use a box cutter. Is there a special tool for this? Also, for PVC pipes 1.75 inches or more, what do you typically use? The handheld PVC cutters are too small. I usually make do with an oscillating tool, but the cuts aren't exactly straight, and it's a pain to dig the whole toolbox out for one cut.

This monstrosity lasted for 15 years. Tsp off a shower. A new CSA-approved coupling for plastic to copper and a big wad of caulk were used. This was a new construction home, which is unacceptable.
