Hetq online has been published in Yerevan since 2001 by the Association of Investigative Journalists NGO. In 2004 the organization re-registered as the Investigative Journalists NGO. Initially publishing content in Armenian, Hetq Online has also been publishing its articles and investigations in the English language since 2002. The Hetq online newspaper was updated every Monday and articles were l

ater republished by Aravot, Haykakan Zhamanak, Azg and 168 Jam newspapers. Students from the Department of Journalism at Yerevan State University also receive practical experience by working with Hetq online. Since Novermber 2008 the Hetq Online has been updated every day. Among its many achievements, in 2002 Hetq online adopted a Code of Ethics (http://hetq.am/eng/about/code-of-ethics/) and every journalist working with us is obliged to follow the principles of this code. In 2004, the Investigative Journalists / Hetq Online received an award from the Armenian branch of Transparency International for its outstanding contribution to the struggle against corruption. One unique feature of Hetq online is that journalistic investigations are often conducted by teams — a new practice in Armenian journalism. These teams also work on investigative documentary films for Hetq which are broadcast on different TV stations in the Republic of Armenia.

Armenia wants UNESCO to add the Archaeological Complex of Garni, the nearby ‘Basalt Organ’ (Symphony of Stones), and Yerevan’s ‘Urartian Heritage’ to the organization’s World Heritage List.

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan and U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien met today in Yerevan and discussed prospects to further develop defense cooperation between their two countries.

Armenia’s government today approved the signing of a European Investment Bank fifty-million-euro loan designed to contribute to the country’s southern Syunik province’s socio-economic recovery and long-term resilience.

The bank’s Resilient Syunik Program will target different communities in Syunik that have been significantly affected by recent warfare, focusing on communities that are either hosting displaced people or recovering from the damage caused by the conflict.

The Armenian government is now targeting Yerevan Circus, partially owned by jailed businessman Samvel Karapetyan.

The leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan reached no breakthrough today in Abu Dhabi during talks to normalize relations between their two countries.

Instead, Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev agreed to continue such talks, noting that it’s the most effective format to address all outstanding issues.

The two leaders, according to Pashinyan’s office, thanked UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for organizing the meeting.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on July 10 in Abu Dhabi as part of the peace agreement process.

Pashinyan will travel to the UAE today on a working visit and is scheduled to meet with that country’s president Sheikh Mohanned bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will leave for the United Arab Emirates on July 9 on a working visit.

Armenian Internal Affairs Minister Arpineh Sargsyan and Chinese Ambassador to Armenia Li Xinwei met today in Yerevan and discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in the fields of combating crime, road safety, disaster risk management and migration policy.

Sargsyan, according to her office, noted that the cooperation between the Armenian Ministry of Internal Affairs and China’s Ministry of Public Security has real potential for expansion.

Thousands gathered in downtown Yerevan’s Diana Abgar Park today in a show of solidarity for businessman Samvel Karapetyan who was arrested on June 17 on charges that he made public calls for people "to seize power and to overthrow the country’s constitutional order".

Karapetyan, who owns the Tashir Group conglomerate, had given an interview to news.am in which he denounced those politicians, including Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan, who have called for a new leader of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian are in Khankendi (Stepanakert - the former Artsakh Republic capital) to attend the 17th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

The ECO was founded in 1985 at the initiative of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey. After the collapse of the USSR, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Afghanistan joined it.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan today sent a communique to U.S. President Donald Trump, congratulating him and the American people on Independence Day.

Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Trafigura CEO Jeremy Weir met today in Yerevan and, according to Pashinyan’s office, discussed “issues related to cooperation in the mining industry and the company's opportunities to implement investment projects in our Armenia.”

The government’s press release doesn’t say anything about Trafigura’s business operations or the company’s worldwide track record.

The company’s website proclaims: “it’s the world's largest suppliers of commodities and connect producers and consumers of minerals, metals and energy, reliably and responsibly.”

Naturally, it fails to mention that the company, headquartered in Singapore, has been named or involved in several scandals since its founding in 1993.

The government’s press release doesn’t say anything about Trafigura’s business operations or the company’s worldwide track record.
