❗️ ACG խորհրդի կողմից որոշում է կայացվել նոր անդամներ ընդգրկելու մասին: Ըստ կանոնակարգի, նոր թեկնածուն պետք է ներկայացված լինի ACG-ի առնվազն 2 գործող անդամների կողմից (երաշխավորությամբ), որոնք նաև պետք է ներկա գտնվեն թեկնածուի հետ ACG խորհորդի հետ հանդիպման օրը և ներկայացնեն թեկնածուին (հնարավոր է նաև առցանց):
🎥Թեկնածուներից պահաջվում է ներկայացնել շոուռիլ (reel) կամ առնվազն 2 ֆիլմի թրեյլերներ, ռեզյումե (CV) և իրենց վեբ կայքի կամ սոցցանցի պաշտոնական կամ անձնական էջի հղումը, որը լավագույնս նեկայացնում է թեկնածուի գործունեությունը: Նոր թեկնածուների վերաբերյալ տեղեկատվությունը տրամադրելու վերջնաժամկետ է սահմանվել 2025 թ.-ի Նոյեմբերի 5-ը, իսկ ACG խորհրդի հետ հադիպման օրերը կլինեն նոյեմբերի 15-ը և 16-ը: Յուրաքանչյուր թեկնածուի և իրեն երաշխավորող ACG անդամների հետ կլինի անհատական հանդիպում: Խնդրում ենք մինչև նոյեմբերի 5-ը նոր թեկածուների վերաբերյալ պահանջվող տեղեկատվությունը ուղարկել Մխիթար Սերոբյանին ACG [email protected] 📩 էլ.փոստին (չմոռանաք նշել ձեր 2 երաշխավոր անդամների անունները):

Dear Cinematographers,

❗️The ACG Board has decided to admit new members. According to the regulations, each new candidate must be nominated by at least two active ACG members (as guarantors), who must also be present at the meeting between the candidate and the ACG Board (attendance may also be online).

🎥Candidates are required to submit a showreel (or at least two film trailers), a CV, and a link to their official or personal website or social media page that best represents their professional work.

The deadline for submitting information about new candidates is November 5, 2025, and the meetings with the ACG Board will take place on November 15 and 16.
Each candidate and their guarantor ACG members will have an individual meeting.

We are deeply saddened to inform you that at the age of 62, our colleague, friend, and member of the Armenian Cinematographers’ Guild (ACG), Artavazd (Arto) Khachatryan, has passed away untimely.

Arto was the cinematographer of many beloved and acclaimed films, and his loss is a profound cultural loss, as well as the painful loss of a good person, a good friend, and a good colleague. Though only 62, he still had much to accomplish—both in his art and for his family and loved ones.

On behalf of the Armenian Cinematographers’ Guild (ACG), we extend our deepest condolences to his family, relatives, friends, the film community, and all who share in the heavy grief of this loss.

Մեծ ցավով տեղեկացնում ենք, որ 62 տարեկան հասակում կյանքից անժամանակ հեռացել է մեր գործընկեր, սիրելի ընկեր և Հայաստանի կինոօպերատորների գիլդիայի անդամ, բազմաթիվ սիրված ու ճանաչված ֆիլմերի օպերատոր Արտավազդ (Արտո) Խաչատուրյանը։

ԱՐՏՈՅԻ կորուստը խորապես ցավալի է․ մշակութային կորուստ, լավ մարդու, լավ ընկերոջ և լավ գործընկերոջ կորուստ։ Նա դեռ շատ անելիքներ ուներ թե արվեստում, թե իր ընտանիքի ու մտերիմների համար։

ACG-ի անունից խորին ցավակցություն ենք հայտնում ընտանիքին, հարազատներին, մտերիմներին, կինոհանրությանը և արվեստի մարդկանց՝ կիսելով այս ծանր վիշտը։

What took place was more than just a masterclass — it was the kind of bold, collective leap we’ve been waiting for. From the very first moment, our president Mko Malkhasyan and the board believed in the vision, and thanks to their leadership, that vision became reality.

This event brought together artists, technicians, and dreamers under one roof — not just to learn, but to ignite something bigger within Armenian cinema. The energy in the room wasn’t just inspiring — it was transformative.

We’re deeply thankful to every single member who showed up, supported, and helped shape this moment. Your presence made it clear: we are ready for more, and we’re ready to lead.

We also want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible partners — Golden Apricot, Cinema Foundation of Armenia, .center Blackorange, Sony, Leitz, Godox, Aputure, Kinotech, and Taylor — for standing beside us and helping elevate this vision to a whole new level.

Day 2 of ACG’s first MasterClass was action packed! We kicked it off with an amazing one on one conversation with the talented Tamara Stepanyan. Followed by a very insightful presentation by Sony Cine with Timothy Fare-Matthews. We closed the day with an another wonderful conversation with the legendary Phedon Papimichael ASC GSC. And of course, all of these insightful discussions were moderated by our very own George Mooradian ASC ACG.

ACG-ի առաջին վարպետության դասընթացի երկրորդ օրը լի էր հետաքրքիր պահերով։ Այն սկսվեց տաղանդավոր Թամարա Ստեփանյանի հետ հիանալի զրույցով։ Դրան հաջորդեց շատ խորացված և արժեքավոր ներկայացում Sony Cine-ի կողմից՝ Թիմոթի Ֆեր-Մեթյուզի մասնակցությամբ։ Օրվա ավարտին տեղի ունեցավ ևս մեկ հրաշալի զրույց՝ լեգենդար Ֆեդոն Պապամիքայելთან՝ ASC GSC։ Իսկ բոլոր այս հետաքրքիր զրույցները վարում էր մեր գիլդիայի անդամ Ջորջ Մուրադյանը՝ ASC ACG։

The first professional MasterClass has begun…

The Armenian Cinematographers Guild and the Golden Apricot International Film Festival launched the first MasterClass for cinematographers.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our very first MasterClass. Our first guest was the renowned cinematographer and director Fred Kelemen, who shared valuable insights and knowledge about his films. And of course, this wonderful conversation was moderated by our guild member George Mooradian, ASC ACG — the only Armenian member of the American Society of Cinematographers.

Առաջին պրոֆեսիոնալ վարպետության դասընթացը մեկնարկեց...

Հայաստանի կինոօպերատորների գիլդիան և Ոսկե Ծիրան միջազգային կինոփառատոնը մեկնարկեցին կինոօպերատորների առաջին վարպետության դասընթացը։

Շնորհակալություն բոլորին, ովքեր մասնակցեցին մեր առաջին վարպետության դասընթացի։ Մեր առաջին հյուրն էր հանրահայտ կինոօպերատոր և ռեժիսոր Ֆրեդ Քելեմանը, ով կիսվեց արժեքավոր մտքերով կիսվեց իր գիտելիքներով ու ֆիլմերի մասին պատկերացումներով։ Եվ իհարկե, այս հրաշալի զրույցը վարում էր մեր գիլդիայի անդամ Ջորջ Մուրադյանը՝ ASC ACG, որը նաև միակ հայն է որ Ամերիակայի կինոօպերատորների ասոցիացիայի անդամ է։ Հատուկ շնորհակալություն ենք հայտնում մեզ միացավ բոլոր հովանավորներին Հայաստանի կինոյի հիմնադրամին, Godox, Astera, Leits, Kinotech, Teylor &Co, BlackOrang, և woods center որտեղ անցնում են այս հիանալի վարպետության դասերը։

🎬 Crafting Atmosphere Through Light: A Conversation with Artur Ustyan

In a recent interview, cinematographer Artur Ustyan delves into the visual storytelling of The Headless Horseman. He emphasizes the collaborative effort behind the film’s haunting atmosphere:

“Light was one of the key tools in The Headless Horseman through which we were able to build the film’s atmosphere and mood. If we succeeded, it’s thanks to the collaborative work of the director, cinematographer, production designer, and the rest of the team.”

Ustyan also discusses the subtle use of shadows, empty spaces, and slow movement to convey themes of absence, highlighting the trust-based collaboration with director Ovsanna.

One of the most technically challenging scenes involved a single take following the protagonist from a building entrance to a living room without showing any faces, despite the crowded setting.

Reflecting on the creative freedom in short films, Ustyan notes that they offer more opportunities for self-expression compared to commercial features.

🎬 Մթնոլորտի ձևավորումը լույսի միջոցով․ զրույց Արթուր Ուստյանի հետ

Վերջերս տրված հարցազրույցում օպերատոր Արթուր Ուստյանը պատմում է «Անգլուխ ձիավորը» ֆիլմի տեսողական պատմվածքի մասին՝ ընդգծելով ֆիլմի մռայլ մթնոլորտի ստեղծման մեջ ունեցած ջանքերը․

«Լույսը «Անգլուխ ձիավորը» ֆիլմում կարևորագույն գործիքներից մեկն էր, որի միջոցով մենք կարողացանք ստեղծել ֆիլմի մթնոլորտն ու տրամադրությունը։ Եթե հաջողել ենք, ապա շնորհիվ ռեժիսորի, օպերատորի, բեմանկարչի ու ամբողջ թիմի համատեղ աշխատանքի։»

Ուստյանը նաև խոսում է ստվերների, դատարկ տարածքների և դանդաղ շարժման նուրբ օգտագործման մասին՝ բացակայության թեմաները փոխանցելու համար՝ ընդգծելով ռեժիսոր Օվսաննայի հետ վստահության վրա հիմնված համագործակցությունը։

Ամենատեխնիկապես բարդ տեսարաններից մեկը մի դրվագ էր, որը հետևում էր գլխավոր հերոսին շենքի մուտքից մինչև հյուրասենյակ՝ առանց որևէ դեմք ցույց տալու, թեև տարածքը մարդաշատ էր։

Խոսելով կարճամետրաժ ֆիլմերի ստեղծագործական ազատության մասին՝ Ուստյանը նշում է, որ դրանք ավելի մեծ հնարավորություններ են տալիս ինքնարտահայտման՝ համեմատած կոմերցիոն արտադրանքների հետ։

We are pleased to announce that we recently conducted an interview with one of our members, Mkhitar Serobyan, founder of Kelvin Film Lab, to discuss their new editing course titled “From Shoot to Screen.” This comprehensive course focuses on various aspects of film production, particularly highlighting the significance of the Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) role, as well as the editing and color grading stages of filmmaking.
