Dreams are becoming reality!
The Spanish company Herrenknecht Ibérica, known for its expertise in tunneling technology and supplying some of the largest drilling machines in the world, has secured a contract to carry out a feasibility study for the permanent link project between Morocco and Spain.
The planned tunnel, which aims to connect Tangier with Spain’s Punta Paloma, has an estimated completion cost of €6 billion, with the feasibility study scheduled to conclude by June 2025.
Once finished, the tunnel would reduce travel time between Africa and Europe to mere minutes, making it possible to literally walk from one continent to the other.”
As for my opinion, this project is both groundbreaking and visionary. It has the potential to revolutionize connectivity between Africa and Europe, enhancing trade, tourism, and cultural exchange while shortening travel times drastically. However, it also raises significant challenges, including technical complexities, environmental impact, and geopolitical considerations. If successfully implemented, it would stand as a landmark achievement in engineering and international cooperation.
