The album tells the history of African leaders and queens who fought against Western and foreign oppression, only to be killed by their enemies or betrayed by their own people.
The first song on the album, also titled Warrior Blood: Kings & Queens of Africa, is about the rise and betrayal of Shaka Zulu.
Shaka Zulu (1787–1828) – The Warrior King
Shaka Zulu revolutionized warfare in Southern Africa, creating a powerful Zulu empire through military strategy and discipline. He introduced new battle formations and weapons, making the Zulu army nearly invincible. However, his reign was marked by brutality, and his enemies—including members of his own family—plotted against him. In 1828, his half-brothers Dingane and Mhlangana assassinated him, fearing his growing power and strict rule. Despite his death, Shaka's legacy as a military genius and unifier of African tribes remains strong.
