The Idea
The idea for the project started to from in July 2018 when it was clear that KTM will finally provide a true successor for 950/990 Adventure series. Sitting togehter with Billy (Horst) Kaudela we though about doing a motorbike travel from Baikal lake back to Austria.
Through out the passing days and months the idea started to shape out to a true project. Travel planning are getting more and more concrete as well the route being taken unveils more and more.
Being a group of four we decided it would be best to use same bike models for this 2-3 months long journey. We had several discussion if we should use our single cylinder lightweight adventure and rally bike or better go for a twin-cylinder enduro.
Due the course of planning the track is became clearer that we will face bad roads and long distances at the same time. Therefore we opted for the best available bike combining low based weight, twin-cylinder engine and strong offroad capabilities - the KTM 790 Adventure.
