My mom always tells me that I am beautiful. She doesn’t say it to comfort me or to pretend she doesn’t see my differences. She says it while looking straight into my blue eyes, as if she can see an entire universe inside them. When I was born, many people were afraid of my limitations. My mom was afraid too — but she chose to love me first, learn later, and never reduce me to a diagnosis. Today, every laugh of mine is an answer to those who once doubted. I might take longer to learn some things, but I know how to love in a way that changes any room. One hug from me brings calm, one smile from me lights up the most tiring days. In the end, that’s what really matters: I wasn’t born to fit into standards, I was born to remind the world that true beauty lives in those who love without limits.
