Doctors are not Gods
Or: How I am Learning to Be a Co-Pilot in My Own Healthcare

I’m sharing it to support anyone who’s ever lost trust in medical professionals. Written with love to my stellar health professionals and doctor friends, through prism of personal experience and research.

The Diversity Ball is an event I am proud to be part of. Honestly, the perception of norm is not diverse enough in any culture I got to know. It is something we can change by raising awareness AND admitting that there are differences, privileges, and struggles.

When you tell a fat person that they are not fat but beautiful, you invalidate our experience of discrimination and prejudice.

Acknowledging differences is the most important step toward change and acceptance — in the financial world, the health system, and in building community without shame. Do it with kindness, educate and represent with dignity - those are my values in contributing to body acceptance movement.

I have lost weight and my identity shifts. Yes, people change with age, after big events like weddings and graduations, after immigration, and after their body changes: age, surgery, weight gain, or weight loss. People do change, especially if they want to or absolutely must.

I love the wardrobe I have built for my ~125 kg version of my body. It is sourced with love, hand-embroidered, fitted, cherished. It is my piece of art created out of lack of choice and abundance in plus-size fashion. I was even a plus-size personal stylist for around a year and helped several women around the world start their own treasure closets — wardrobes that fit their personality and embraced both their bodies and souls.

I am down 2 sizes. Some pieces I still wear, e.g., trench coats, oversized blazers, shirts. Some pieces like fitted skirts, pants, and dresses will be put on closet sale. I am sad to say goodbye to every piece, but I am proud of my previous version that found a way to dress chic and authentic, even in a highly fatphobic industry — fashion, wink wink.
And I know these pieces will bring joy to other people. They deserve to breathe and shine.

2. Closet sale is planned for this weekend (autumn is coming…and new sizes ain’t cheap 💸)
