Navigating Vienna means exploring a public transit framework shaped by generations of smart planning.

Wiener Linien operates 29 regular tram lines across a massive network containing over 1,100 stations, securing its spot as one of the largest tram networks in the world.

This layout relies on a structured blueprint originally introduced in 1907 to replace confusing color schemes. Modern expansions are deployed intentionally to keep step with the city's growth, such as the introduction of Line 12 on September 1, 2025, to enhance connectivity across expanding outer districts. This evolving setup highlights how Vienna bridges its historic 1907 foundations with a high tech, ever expanding modern system. 🚃🇦🇹

One of the best places to enjoy autumn in Vienna? Zentralfriedhof.

The huge cemetery becomes especially beautiful when the trees turn golden and the paths are covered in fallen leaves. It’s peaceful, spacious, and feels completely different from the busy city.

With so many old graves, monuments, and historic corners to discover, you can easily spend a few hours just walking around and taking it all in. I can’t wait to walk there again soon. 🍁

The Wiener Riesenrad has been part of Vienna’s skyline since 1897, when it was built to mark the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I’s reign. Standing 64.75 metres high, it was the tallest Ferris wheel of its kind when it opened.

It was badly damaged by fire in 1944 and rebuilt after the war, reopening in 1947 with 15 cabins instead of its original 30. With the Prater lights and Christmas atmosphere around it, it has become my personal favourite during the Christmas season.

📍 Prater Tower, Wiener Prater, Vienna

The Prater Tower rises 117 metres above the Wiener Prater and opened in 2010. It’s a giant chain carousel with 12 double seats, taking riders up to around 90 metres above the ground. When it was built, it was the world’s tallest chain carousel.

There’s more to the tower than the ride itself. Its golden onion-shaped top contains three clocks, each 2.7 metres wide, plus around 1,200 LEDs that light up the structure at night.

Most people know Michaelerplatz as the grand entryway to Vienna's imperial past, framed by the massive green dome of the Hofburg Palace. This iconic wing looks centuries old but was actually completed in 1893. Though originally designed in the 1720s, the blueprint sat on a shelf for 160 years simply because a beloved theater was standing right in its path! Once it was finally torn down, builders dusted off the original plans to finish it.
