STILL ROCKIN' IT PODCAST - Rose Carleo - Rose Carleo BAND

Rose Carleo captivates listeners with her powerful story of musical destiny, beginning at age 13 when her mother dared her to sing on stage. That pivotal moment launched a lifelong journey through Australia's vibrant rock scene, culminating in the formation of the Rose Carleo Band, known for their blues-infused rock sound and electrifying performances.

The band's new single "Daisy's Song" marks a significant departure from their typically harder rock style. This deeply moving ballad emerged from a place of raw vulnerability when a friend shared his struggles with depression, anxiety, and alcoholism. Rose and her husband Mick transformed these painful experiences into a song of hope and resilience. As Rose poignantly shares, "It's a song about hope, about reaching out... there's a real power in asking for help. It shouldn't be looked at as a weakness."

What makes this release particularly special is its thoughtful presentation. The artwork features a semicolon – a symbol that a person's story isn't over, just pausing before continuing. This powerful visual metaphor reinforces the song's message that even in our darkest moments, we can find connection and meaning by reaching out to others.

Looking ahead, the Rose Carleo Band has exciting plans for fans across Australia and beyond. Their forthcoming album will feature predominantly rock-driven anthems alongside "Daisy's Song" and one other ballad, showcasing their versatility as musicians.

In a nostalgic nod to music's golden era, they'll be releasing the album on vinyl – potentially in a striking blue that matches the single's artwork. With tour dates coming up across Australia and a trip to Japan scheduled for April, Rose's authentic voice and message continue to reach new audiences.

Listen to "Daisy's Song" on all major streaming platforms and follow Rose Carleo Band on social media or at rosecarlioband.com for upcoming tour dates.

Experience the power of music that not only rocks but also heals and connects.

What has Rose Carleo been up to lately? Let's find out!

STILL ROCKIN' IT PODCAST - Stu Rudd - The Superjesus

When a band has been creating music together for nearly three decades, something magical happens. The creative chemistry becomes almost telepathic, transforming into what SuperJesus bassist Stu Rudd describes as "the DNA of both of us being in this band."

In this revealing conversation, Ruddy takes us behind the scenes of the recently released self-titled SuperJesus album and their extensive Australian and NZ tour, currently riding high on sold-out shows and enthusiastic fan response, the band demonstrates that their creative fire burns as brightly as ever.

The album represents a new pinnacle in the songwriting partnership between Stu and frontwoman Sarah McLeod, who have developed an intuitive musical connection that transcends words. "There were times when we would look at each other and we wouldn't talk, but we knew that we had to put a new chord in there," he explains, offering rare insight into their creative process.

The journey from their early days to becoming ARIA Award winners with platinum albums wasn't without challenges. With refreshing honesty, Rudd recalls the grueling work behind their "overnight" success – including rehearsing daily for 18 straight months. He reflects on how the band was often too busy with the practicalities of touring to fully appreciate their achievements at the time: "You guys are going platinum. Okay, yeah, well, we need petrol for the van because we're driving another 1,400 kilometres." Now, with the perspective of time, he can look back with well-earned pride at what they've built together. Between insights about the band, Stu also shares details about his work with supergroup The Filthy Animals and answers rapid-fire questions about his musical influences, favorite performances, and songs he wishes more people knew.

STILL ROCKIN' IT - Ross Wilson - Daddy Cool ~ Mundo Rock ~ The Peaceniks

Join Cheryl Lee for Still Rockin' It every Monday and Friday on 94.7 The Pulse Geelong

Australian rock legend Ross Wilson opens up in this fascinating backstage conversation just moments before taking the stage on his record-breaking "50 Years of Hits" tour. With the tour expanding to over 150 shows, this marks the most extensive touring schedule of his 60-year career—proving that retirement isn't in his vocabulary.

From humble beginnings in Melbourne church choirs to forming iconic bands, Ross shares the pivotal moments that shaped his extraordinary journey. He reveals how Daddy Cool emerged from his experimental band Sons of the Vegetal Mother, becoming the surprise hit of the 1971 Myponga Festival before they'd even released a record. Their pioneering music video for "Eagle Rock," filmed at this festival, helped propel them to nationwide success—years before MTV made music videos essential.

Despite his legendary status, Ross remains refreshingly grounded. His latest blues EP tackles modern social media addiction, showing his continued relevance while honoring his musical roots. As he continues selling out venues with his band The Peaceniks, it's clear that after six decades, Ross Wilson isn't just still rocking it—he's reaching new heights.

UP DOWN UNDER -Taylor Sheridan

Join me for music, news, reviews, and interviews with some of our favourite Australian musicians, Saturday nights on Radio Adelaide 01.5FM 10.30 till midnight or streaming live around Australia and around the globe on your favourite device

Taylor Sheridan brings us directly into his world, where farm life, fatherhood, and music converge to create something uniquely authentic. Growing up on his father's mobile animal farm in Victoria's Macedon Ranges taught Taylor responsibility and connection from an early age – lessons that now infuse his songwriting with genuine emotion and purpose.

What makes Taylor's musical journey fascinating is how organically he found his way to country music. Unlike artists born into the genre, Taylor first fell in love with the soul stylings of Stevie Wonder before gradually discovering that his natural storytelling abilities aligned perfectly with country traditions. "I just write music that I like," he explains, revealing how his approach transcends genre limitations while honoring the storytelling heart of country music.

STILL ROCKIN' IT PODCAST - Amber Lawrence

What happens when a Sydney accountant stumbles upon country music by chance and follows an unexpected path to stardom? Six-time Golden Guitar winner Amber Lawrence reveals all in this charming conversation about musical journeys and finding your passion later in life.

Amber's story begins with a surprising revelation – she didn't pick up a guitar until age 22 and had no childhood dreams of musical fame. A chance purchase of a LeAnn Rimes CD sparked her interest in country music, leading to a fateful trip to Tamworth in 2004 where she placed second in a talent competition. Fast forward twenty years, and she's one of Australia's most celebrated country artists, recently inducted into the prestigious Galaxy of Stars alongside legends like Kasey Chambers and Lee Kernaghan.

The conversation delves into her 2022 ARIA #1 country album "Living for the Highlights," which captured the emotional rollercoaster of the pandemic years while maintaining Amber's characteristically positive outlook. She shares the story behind her latest single "Comeback Queens," a joyful anthem celebrating those nights out with longtime friends where everyone recaptures their carefree youth.

Amber gives us a glimpse of her busy schedule, balancing an extensive tour, European travel, and preparation for hosting the iconic Deni Ute Muster festival in October. She also discusses her upcoming album (now scheduled for January release), her pioneering children's country music albums, and why country music's authentic storytelling continues to win over new fans who "can now admit they like country music."

Join us for this heartwarming conversation that proves it's never too late to find your true calling. Whether you're a longtime country music fan or just beginning to appreciate the genre, Amber's journey from corporate office to country stages will inspire you to follow your unexpected passions.

"I just write music that I like," he explains, revealing how his approach transcends genre limitations while honoring the storytelling heart of country music.

The conversation turns deeply personal as Taylor shares the inspiration behind his new single "Stories," written at a pivotal moment in his life. With fatherhood transforming his perspective and a national tour with Jimmy Barnes on the horizon, Taylor finds himself looking forward rather than backward for the first time. "Now having a daughter, it's the first time in my life where I've been looking forward to what's to come," he reveals, describing how this shift influences his creative process.

His five years touring with Taxiride provided an education in connecting with audiences through music that serves others rather than ego – experience that continues to shape his authentic performance style.

Whether discussing his ambassadorship for youth mental health through the Life Changer Foundation or reflecting on the Michael Jackson performance that changed his life trajectory at age eleven, Taylor embodies an artist committed to genuine expression and meaningful connection.

CALLING ALL ROCKAHOLICS - Andrew Stockdale - Wolfmother

Andrew Stockdale, the powerhouse behind Wolfmother, shares his remarkable journey from busker to rock icon.

Despite playing guitar eight hours daily, he tried to abandon music for something "legit." After studying photography and even shooting for Vogue, he finally gave himself an ultimatum at age 27: one last gig before quitting forever. That decision changed everything, leading to Wolfmother's formation, a five-times platinum debut album that stayed on charts for 78 weeks, and multiple ARIA Awards.
