The Cafe (Bijou) is focussing on is nu-jazz roots & t***s this friday night, with as much jazz as we can fit into 2 hours. "Its Jazz as we know it"

Cafe Bijou, tonight with William, will feature a few nu-names, specifically
The Groovesmith Nu Jazz Ensemble - an Australian nu-jazz group with recorded songs like "Hope Street" and "Coconut Drop".
The ensemble's music is rooted in nu-jazz, fusing jazz with electronic music and funk and free improvisation, plus vocals. Its cool!
They feature vocals by Dave Pensabene, tenor saxophone by Patrick Van Der Moezel, and didgeridoo played by Yasuyuki.

Also the Nu Jazz Project, a collective from Brussels, performing a couple of tracks, one featuring the The Bamboos, another Australian funk and soul band from Melbourne.

They say that most people don't listen to new music after the age of 35. Such a pity when there is a lot of exciting new music being released now. Tonight Sister T will be previewing the latest offering from drummer/producer Makaya McCraven `Pop Up Shop' releasing at the end of October. You'll also hear interesting new recordings from the debut album from Grammy award winning saxman Venna, UK keyboard player Alfa Mist, an upcoming release from Brooklyn based multi-instrumentalist and composer Cochemea and Melbourne based vocalist Rita Satch among others. Later in the program relax with a couple of tracks from German trumpeter Till Bronner from his new album `Italia', as well as a tune from another great trumpeter Herb Alpert and Boss Nova from Airto Moreira and Bossa Nostra. Some old favorites, Roy Ayers, Step It Up, GOTAN PROJECT Official and Move '78 are also on the playlist!

CB has techno dance from Fitzzgerald of Minsk, Belarus, and Mr Blues by Woongsan of Korea.
Fresh, funky, and bold – Epic Soul Kitchen blends global grooves, disco, and funk into epic soundscapes. Led by composers Matthias Elender and Jonas Beck, they create pure musical magic.
As does Kyoto Jazz Massive - a Japanese musical project specialising in cross over jazz and electronic styles, formed by brothers Shuya and Yoshihiro Okino.
And more from Japan with Tokyo Groove Jyoshi, an all female jazz combo. A new find is Leon Phal on sax and soul-hop from Kamauu.
