Cafe Bijou travels the world seeking the nu-jazz, the neofunk and associated soul, and club tunes.
Now join William this week when we go where we haven't been before... Tune to 5mbs 99.9FM or https://5mbs.com/ from 8-10pm this Friday night or listen back later on the 5mbs website here: https://omny.fm/shows/cafe-bijou/playlists/podcast/embed?style=
Cafe Bijou fly's around Asia, with Ponpon Chen from Taipei; Sumin and Hyukoh, a 'boy band', both from Korea, plus some killer Japanese funk.
We jump to Toronto, Canada, with a number of refugees from Snarky Puppy, being Anthony Brancati, on Hammond organ, and Larnell Lewis, the x.drummer. We catch up with a legion of Jamaican ska, Jennifer Lara, and head to Chile to find the amazing Newen Afrobeat, splendid in colour and facepaint.
Not to be outdone, Adelaide gets an appearance with DJ producer LEVOS, now based in Sydney. England's Emma-Jean Thackray, who has been a regular in Cafe Bijou, GreenTea also of London, plus Offshore and Coen from the Hague.
& solid jazz from Black Art Jazz Collective, and Greg Joseph and The Right Back.
