The Senior Dog’s First Vacation 🏕️🐕
I thought my best days had passed.
Then you opened the car door
and said my new name,
and I discovered how wonderful
wind feels against a gray face.
You took me past mountains,
quiet lakes,
and roads I had never smelled before.
My old legs moved slowly,
but you never hurried me.
Dogs do not count how many years they have left. They simply love the day in front of them. Sometimes adopting an old dog means filling their final chapters with all the adventures they should have had before.
That night beneath the stars,
you tucked a blanket around me.
And beside the campfire,
I fell asleep between you both—
warm, loved,
and happily snoring.
