Tennis legend Serena Williams is set to make her long-awaited return to competitive tennis in the doubles event at the HSBC Championships at Queen’s Club in London next week.

The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion has not played a professional match since the 2022 US Open, where she was defeated by Ajla Tomljanović. Although Williams stepped away from the sport at the time, she never officially announced her retirement, saying she was “evolving away from tennis.”

Now 44, Williams will compete in the doubles draw after receiving a wild card entry. Her partner has not yet been announced.

“Queen’s Club feels like the perfect place to begin this next chapter,” Williams said, highlighting her strong connection to grass-court tennis, a surface on which she enjoyed many of the most memorable moments of her career.

Speculation about a comeback intensified late last year when Williams appeared in the International Tennis Integrity Agency’s testing pool, a requirement for players planning a return to competition. Despite initially downplaying the rumors, Williams recently posted a cryptic video on social media hinting at her comeback.

The HSBC Championships begin on June 6 and serve as a key warm-up event ahead of Wimbledon, where Williams has won seven singles titles. It remains unclear whether she will also compete at this year’s Wimbledon Championships.

Tournament organizers and tennis fans have welcomed the news, with many excited to see one of the sport’s greatest-ever players back on court.

A self-driving electric bus in Gothenburg, Sweden, was involved in a collision with a tram on its first day of public operation after it reportedly braked suddenly.

According to local authorities, the tram struck the rear of the autonomous bus. No passengers were injured in the incident, and officials confirmed that everyone on board remained safe.

The bus was operating with a safety driver present, a standard precaution designed to allow human intervention if necessary during the trial period. Following the collision, the vehicle was removed from service and taken for inspection.

The pilot project, which has been approved to run until July 2027, is intended to evaluate the performance of autonomous public transportation in real-world traffic conditions.

The incident has drawn attention as self-driving technology continues to face increased scrutiny worldwide, particularly following several recent issues involving autonomous robotaxi services. Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the collision as testing continues.

Movie theaters in Switzerland have introduced an unusual feature by installing screens inside bathroom stalls, allowing visitors to continue watching content during restroom breaks.

The setup has been spotted at select Arena Cinemas locations, where small displays have been placed near the floor inside toilet stalls. Videos showing the screens recently went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and sparking debate among moviegoers.

According to reports, many of the screens are used to display advertisements. However, some locations also broadcast the movie currently playing in the theater, enabling patrons to keep up with the film without missing key scenes while away from their seats.

The concept has generated mixed reactions online. Supporters have praised the idea as an innovative way to enhance the cinema experience, while critics argue that watching movies in a restroom is unnecessary and somewhat strange.

Despite the divided opinions, the bathroom cinema concept has become a talking point among movie fans and social media users alike.
