I’d be interested in thoughts from fellow creatives…

This handsome young man is Caleb… he’s 18 now… so I’m sure he won’t me sharing this photo!

He needed a photo of himself for a Year 12 camp, and it needed from when he first started school. I sent a few, but this was the one they picked to print off and put around his neck for his peers to see.

Now, I found it this morning, and said ‘How cute!’.

Him and his sister started saying how everyone thought it was Ai… the photo I took some 12 years ago!

It actually made me a little sad to hear it… I spent sleepless nights in those early years thinking about ways to perfect my art… I read books, magazines, when to photography groups… I was like a walking TAFE course.

Now to have it thought of as ‘fake’…

As someone who constantly thinks about improving my cretivity for the future, makes me wonder about the future of this craft, and other fields, spending so much time on something that might be completely discarded.

I’m not complaining, I understand the nature of Ai and I’m trying to accept the reality… but…

We’ve seen so much in our first week of Japan… too much to show in a post… but it’s been fantastic to share it with a couple of champions! dragged me here, as you know, and I’ve shown him a few photography tips… then took us in to show us the real side! Him and his family have been so generous with us! Thought I’d show a few of us getting our posing on! I’m thinking this could be a great addition to my career… portrait trips to foreign lands!

As I grow older I see the world so differently… here’s a few: I’ll revisit old photos with new perspective… beauty has changed from a physical thing to an authentic thing… this song is one of my favourite gym songs… the lyric ‘losing yourself in delusional dimensions’ being extremely pertinent for these social platforms. I shot this portrait during a film clip I was in, this guy was one of the other talent. I’ll post another in the story!

It’s been several months since my journey to the Swiss Alps… and I’ve been reading about it as I transcribe my writing into digital. It’s like I’m not the same person anymore… I’ve come so far… but the trip helped me confront deep things that needed to be confronted… so did the return home!

I’m reminded of the Jewish saying ‘Wherever you go, there you are’…

Travel doesn’t ‘fix’ things, but it does help you delve into parts of yourself that needed to be addressed.

Well, it does for me anyway!
