Dismissing the risk of MRONJ doesn’t always make a patient feel less worried. It’s often the honest conversations about the real risks, approached with care and empathy, that help patients feel more at ease🫶🏽✨

So much growth and learning has taken place over the past year🤍. Transitioning from a student to a graduate has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding.

University does an amazing job of teaching us the technical knowledge and clinical skills, but it’s easy to forget what’s right in front of us…a person! A complex individual with their own story, experiences, and fears.

As modern dentists, we have the opportunity to shape how future generations perceive our profession. Every interaction matters. Let’s lead with empathy, kindness, and compassion, and create experiences that leave people feeling heard, respected, and cared for✨🫶🏽.

Part 1 of my interview with Jen Cox is here!

This was such an insightful and exciting conversation. Speaking with Jen really highlighted just how important communication is in the bigger picture of dentistry. Not just for delivering great care, but for building trust and meaningful patient relationships.

I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed the conversation. Stay tuned for Part 2!🫶🏽

I might still be in the honeymoon phase of my career but oh well😝

As clinicians, we often see the bigger picture. We know that when decay is present, treating it earlier is almost always simpler, less invasive, and leads to better long-term outcomes.

But for many patients, life is full. Between work, family, finances, health, and everything else, dental care isn’t always the highest priority.

Rather than making patients feel guilty about where they are, we have an opportunity to meet them with understanding. Their experiences can become a source of motivation (rather than shame) to help them move towards the best oral health they can achieve, one step at a time🦷✨

Regardless of the decision a patient ultimately makes, our role is to ensure they leave with a better understanding than when they arrived🤍🤍

It’s easy to forget that patients don’t always have the full picture or the background knowledge that we do. Part of our role is to help them unpack the information, provide context, and support them in making informed decisions that are right for them!

This is such a vulnerable topic for me and something I’ve only recently had a chance to reflect on🤍✨

When I made the decision to shut down my business, it felt like a part of me died. But that was when I saw just how much value I had gained!

I’m hopeful that this is only the beginning!

“To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did” - Denzel Washington

This was so nerve racking for me, but it’s something I had to do. For far too long, I’ve been scared. I’m tired of waiting for the right time or waiting to feel confident enough to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.

The time is now!!

Follow along for the journey🤍

Thank you Exposure Therapy Final Boss for showing me it is possible🫶🏽
