A rather surprising scene unfolded in Algeria on November 2, 2025. Three individuals were apprehended while attempting to illegally cross the maritime border into Spain… disguised as sheep. The incident, reported by several local media outlets, astonished authorities and witnesses present at the scene.

The three men, whose nationalities remain unknown, allegedly used sheepskins and handcrafted accessories to blend into a flock of sheep destined for export. Their goal: to go unnoticed among the animals being loaded onto a ship bound for Spain. This audacious strategy did not withstand the vigilance of port security personnel.

According to initial reports, some witnesses claim they are Senegalese nationals, while others suggest they are Cameroonians. However, no official confirmation has yet been issued by Algerian authorities. The individuals have been taken into custody, and an investigation is underway to determine their exact identities and the circumstances of their attempt.

This incident highlights the sometimes unusual and desperate methods used by migrants to try to reach Europe. It also raises questions about port security and the monitoring of animal exports, in a context where migration flows continue to pose major challenges to the Maghreb countries.
