Daryll got an early mark from work today so we went for a drive to Emu Park and Yeppoon for ice cream!

Emu Park has one of the best ANZAC memorials in all of Australia.

Several years ago, when we used to live here, my son and I attended a dawn service there - they would’ve easily had over 5,000 in attendance. It was truly breathtaking.

There’s a few different apps that are a must have when travelling.

WIKICAMPS AUSTRALIA
This is my absolute most used app on our phones. Initially it costs $9.99 as a once off fee. WikiCamps not only shows caravan parks, but also free camps, Showgrounds, farm stays, day areas, places of interest, water refill points and dump points. Users leave reviews and list site fees so that you can confidently choose your next stay.

HIPCAMPS AUSTRALIA
This site is great for farm stays and stays on private properties. It’s easy to use

CAMPS AUSTRALIA
Much like WikiCamps, it’s a great back up in case my main app fails. It also shows caravan parks, free camps, Showgrounds, farm stays, day areas, places of interest, water refill points and dump points.

TRAVEL BOAST
A great fun app where you can create mini videos of your journeys. You can also custom select your vehicle, caravan, car, boat or airplane. It’s great to show your exact routes on your trip.

GDAY PARKS
A handy app for Discovery Park caravan parks. You can get discounts sent directly to your phone and you can view all parks and accommodation options available.

POLARSTEPS
This app you can keep track of your journeys and you have the ability to upload photos at each spot you stop at along the way. At the end you have the option to turn those photos into coffee table photo books.

It’s very been asked by a good friend to do this diamond art for her, so I’m working on that today.

We’re in for torrential rain tonight and this weekend, so it’ll be indoor activities for us over the next few days.

Now that we’ve parked up for a couple of weeks, we’ve got the slow cooker out.

Tonight is corned beef:
1 onion cut into wedges
1 carrot sliced
1tbs mustard seeds
6 cloves
1tbs brown sugar
1 1/2 cups vinegar
Water to half cover

Chuck it all in at 10am and it’s ready to eat at 5:30-6pm

Yes thanks to a certain husband who shall remain nameless, we missed out on the snow! His name may or may not start with D ……

Anyway on our drive we came across a beautiful campground called Mingo Crossing Caravan Park. So we did a u turn and came back. Apart from being very windy it’s stunning.

On the banks of the Burnett River there’s catfish to be caught if you try. Daryll didn’t want to go fishing due to the wind.

We’ve encountered a few bumpy back roads that Apple Maps likes to take us on, so our kettle decided to jump off the cupboard and the lid broke! RIP Mr Smeg kettle - time to buy a new one when we get to Rockhampton later today.

Today we travelled to Toowoomba QLD. We are thankful for warmer weather as our stop last night only reached 1oC. It’s fair to say the diesel heater got a good workout.

We were able to see lush forests and mountain ranges on today’s drive.

We’ve stopped at Murphy’s Creek about 25 mins from Toowoomba. The local Tavern here offers free accommodation out the back. We thanked them by ordering a couple of drinks and a pizza for dinner.

Still heading north tomorrow, we just haven’t decided how far just yet.
