We put the drone up over the ocean side of the headland at 1770 this morning. The water’s ridiculous, the cliffs are stunning, and the whole place just feels wild.

This colourised aerial image from 1970 shows Agnes Water before any formal subdivision took place. At the time, the area consisted of a small coastal settlement made up mainly of shacks and simple dwellings, connected by rough tracks rather than sealed roads. There was no planned street layout, just buildings placed where access and shelter made sense.

The image captures the scale of the village as it was then, sparse development, large areas of undeveloped land, and a coastline still largely untouched by modern infrastructure. It provides a clear snapshot of Agnes Water in its early, informal stage, prior to the residential expansion that followed in later decades. Coloured with Google
