That's right folks, The Welder's Dog Inverell will welcome the new year with a new name – ROUSEABOUT – and we're digging it. 🐑

So, what's in a name? On a personal note, owners James and Phoebe Croft both had grandparents who operated sheep farms in Bundarra and Guyra – that meant childhoods spent rouseabouting during shearing season, sweeping the board, picking up fleece, filling woolbins and yard work. As for the slogan? That one came directly from Phoebe’s grandfather Gary Goldman: “Cheers to a good season”.

In short, ROUSEABOUT was born through connection to their past, place and people – which you can read more about in our Q&A with James and Phoebe at the link below. Bring on 2026 and cheers to a good season!

This is me channeling my inner Kate Bush. But I wasn’t wandering the fields alone, photographer Catherine Stephen was following me around, taking photos and stamping the ground to scare off potential snakes – all in the name of Frocktober.

Now in her fourth year, Catherine’s Frocking Fab Frocktober sees her photograph frocked up women across the New England to raise awareness and funds for crucial ovarian cancer research. The current five-year survival rate for ovarian cancer patients sits at just 49%, there is no early detection test and treatment options haven’t improved significantly in decades.

Enter Catherine, her camera and her exceptional talent behind the lens. While I’m chuffed to have an excuse to put on a pretty dress and go in search of Heathcliff, the priority here is raising funds to accelerate the breakthroughs ovarian cancer patients need. So please, hit the button at our link in bio to donate to Catherine’s Frocking Fab Frocktober and follow her along for the ride 🫶🏼

Once upon a time, we asked Toowoomba-based photographer (who travels countrywide) to share a self-portrait and a few words about what was happening in her life at the time. This right here is the glorious result. Thank you Pip. 🫶🏼

PS - if you’re searching for a family photographer who captures all of the real, raw, authentic family vibes and none of the cliches, look no further than Pip.

“I took this self portrait in February 2020, when my daughters and I were experiencing a period of home isolation during the early stages of the Covid pandemic. I’d started documenting moments of my girls in these slow (and quite boring) days – then decided to turn the camera on myself. I don’t particularly like having my photo taken, especially by others. But making the time to sit down and intentionally photograph myself, to document a specific time in my life, find the right light and work out the bloody self timer, I surprisingly found the process satisfying and enjoyable. In saying that though, I haven’t taken another self portrait since this photo.”

It’s true... I have big news. But before I say anything else, I want to confirm that REGGIE is still here, live and kicking and focusing on our divine, hyper local content in the New England and Coffs Coast. 🫶🏼

Now, here’s the next bit...

Ever since moving back to regional NSW in 2019, I’ve been devoted to championing all of the fantastic, innovative and interesting things happening in our region – firstly with the launch of FOUND Regional magazine and subsequently with the launch of our website, REGGIE.

As many of you will know, I made the difficult decision to stop printing FOUND earlier this year (yep, still hurts). While the economic situation didn’t help, part of that decision was because other conversations were happening in the background that would better enable me to truly ramp up the impact of the work I was doing, and help regional businesses get their stories in front of much bigger, national audiences.

That’s why I’m thrilled to share with you that last week I began working with Urban List as their first ever Regional Partnerships Lead. (Erm... pinch me immediately because this right here is my dream job, with a dream publisher, backed by a dream team) 🙌🏻

What will I be doing exactly? I’m so glad you asked! It’s a hybrid commercial and content role designed to unlock growth in Australia’s burgeoning regional tourism sector through Urban List’s new platform, Urban List Regions. Yep, Urban List is expanding its cultural influence beyond the cities – Regions is our commitment to platforming local stories, experiences, and businesses with the same energy we bring to the capitals.

As Regional Partnerships Lead I’ll be overseeing the production of compelling regional content and managing a contributor network to ensure consistent, credible storytelling. I’ll even be penning some stories myself. The end goal? To bring regional culture to a national audience. SIGN ME UP.

So, my regional-lovin’ legends, whether you’re keen to partner with Urban List Regions or REGGIE, I’m your gal to help shift country narratives, grow your audience and build value for your community.

If you’re yet to discover the joy of Walcha Coffee – you must – asap. These guys are on a mission to bring you the very finest cup of joe. 👌🏻

It all began when owner Cameron Hayton was working at an on-campus Starbucks while studying at university in Colorado. (Yes, he still cringes at the thought of the coffee he produced back then). Fast forward to today and Walcha Coffee’s carefully sourced beans are roasted in small batches to bring out their unique flavours and aromas, ensuring a truly extraordinary coffee experience with every cup.

If you need more reasons to pay them a visit, here are several:
1. Walcha Coffee is a family-run business in regional NSW – growing from the family’s kitchen table, to markets, to their cafe in the heart of Walcha.
2. They supply cafes all over rural NSW and the East Coast of NSW.
3. They also ship Australia-wide and can fulfil almost any size order.
4. The product is top notch – we’re talking premium, handcrafted coffee that’s ethically sourced.
5. Cameron and the team are committed to education, working closely with cafes and retail customers to discover the art of handcrafted coffee.
6. They’ve won medals – including the silver and gold at the Golden Bean Australasia awards in 2022 and 2023, as well as the silver medal in the Gold Bean World Series.

Need we say more? ☕️

Introducing OhMaSoul – a regional NSW trio with Jemimah Hiscox on vocals, James Brinkhoff on keys and Thomas Hogarth on drums. Together, they’ve created a sound that’s as thoughtful as it is funky and their first EP will be released on Monday 21 July. 🎉

Led by Jemimah’s expressive vocals, with deep analog keys from James Brinkhoff and laid-back grooves by Thomas Hogarth, the EP features stories of love, loss, rusty old trucks, and office-speak absurdity. Recorded by Pat Harris (The Tambourine Girls) and mixed by Jim Kelly (Australian jazz icon), it truly captures the rich chemistry of their live sets and is a must for your music collection. 👌🏻

(PS - Highly recommended for fans of Hiatus Kaiyote, Joni Mitchell, Corinne Bailey Rae, Steely Dan, D’Angelo) 🙌🏻
