Relive yesterday's live broadcast from the Bendigo & District Aboriginal Co-Operative's key NAIDOC week event, the annual Family Day. The Phoenix FM team conducted interviews and played First Nations music across the 3-hour broadcast. Interviewees include BDAC, Anglicare Victoria, headspace Bendigo, Intereach, Jirrahlinga Dingo Conservation & Wildlife Education Centre, Hearing Australia, and Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Inc.
This broadcast was made possible with the support of the Community Broadcasting Foundation.

What an amazing community event!!!!!! Phoenix FM broadcast live from the Bendigo and District Aboriginal Cooperative (BDAC) NAIDOC Week Family Day today from 10.30am to 1.30pm
Our Broadcast team for the day was Brett Adie (Tech), presenters Patrice McCarthy, Darren Wright, Julie Sloan and Darren Wright and Anne Conway (coordinator/photographer.

Interviews were conducted with a number of organisations – Anglicare; Headspace; Interreach; Jirralinga Wildlife Sanctuary; Hearing Australia; Communities for Children; BDAC and VACCHO (Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation).

As if all that enough, our team even got treated to a delicious feed provided by the hosts, Bendigo and District Aboriginal Cooperative (BDAC)

BDAC NAIDOC FAMILY DAY
Wednesday 9th July 2025
10.30AM - 2.30PM @ Bendigo Exhibition Centre, Holmes Road, Bendigo

The BDAC NAIDOC Family Day is a community event that celebrates NAIDOC Week and honors the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. It's a fun and inclusive day for children, families and Elders, featuring a Smoking Ceremony, story time, face painting, bush tucker, boomerang painting, native wildlife displays, jumping castles and live performances.

Koori Shoutout this evening will be hosted by Conway and Jill McGranaghan.
Studio guest at around 6.20pm will be Aunty Rhonda Penney, First Nations Coordinator at CVGT Employment . Program also includes the Koori Shoutout News Bulletin and also a reply of the City of Greater Bendigo's Flag Raising Ceremony held at the Library Gardens Yesterday. On top of all that some great First Nations Music and commentary from Anne and Jill on NAIDOC Week in Bendigo so far!
