The Great Pyramid of Giza – Mathematics
While reading a book “The great wonders of the ancient world”, by Bettany Hughes - I came to know about an interesting connection of mathematics with the wonders of the ancient world.
Did you know that the Great Pyramid of Giza, the only surviving wonder of the ancient world, is also a mathematical masterpiece?
Built over 4,500 years ago, this massive structure isn't just about size—it's about precision:
🔺 The base is a perfect square, aligned almost exactly with the four cardinal directions.
📏 The height-to-base ratio closely reflects the golden ratio (ϕ ≈ 1.618), a number found in nature and art.
📐 The ancient Egyptians may have used right-angled triangles (Pythagorean triples) to create perfect angles—long before Pythagoras!
The Great Pyramid shows us that mathematics was not just abstract—it was practical, powerful, and eternal.
Stay tuned for the next wonder and its hidden math!
