This year, I made a conscious decision to set aside time each week for something just for me — I joined a local art class.

While some people might enjoy time in the gym or attending yoga, for me, a couple of hours of painting is the perfect form of self-care. It gives my mind space to slow down, reduces stress, and provides a creative outlet that lifts my mood and focus.

After years of painting quietly at home, it’s been wonderful to share that experience with other artists, learn new techniques, and be inspired by their creativity. It has also helped build my confidence enough that I recently entered a local art show.

Seeing my work displayed alongside other local talent was an exciting moment.

One of the things I value most about working for myself is the flexibility to prioritise time for activities that support my wellbeing and personal growth.
