Erik Anderson, CEO and co-founder of European Energy.

Erik founded European Energy in 2004, where the vision was simple: to inspire and be part of a global journey toward a world powered by 100% renewable energy. Erik saw massive potential to disrupt the energy sector, which at the time consisted mostly of state-owned utilities, none of which seriously considered renewable energy as a main business area. His dedication to this progressive sector would separate European Energy from competitors, as well as support his home continent’s energy use with locally generated energy from entirely renewable resources.

Throughout the years, European Energy has expanded its green energy portfolio across a host of additional European countries as well as overseas markets including Brazil, Australia, and the USA. Erik’s passion and commitment has taken European Energy to continually greater heights.

Episode 10 is entitled "ICE" where we broach the discussion of our polar regions and the affect climate change is having. We talk about what scientists are seeing at the moment, what damage has already been done and what the knock on affects are. In this episode we also open the conversation up to disaster management, mitigation, prevention, policy, and how disasters affect everyday people around the world. This episode is slightly different but really pertinent one that may leave you pondering somethings outside your usual perspective.

EPISODE 10 is out NOW on ICE, featuring on the episode is our wonderful special guest Dr Samantha Montano Her new book "Disasterology!" is now available and out for your purchase and it's worth each and every page. Unrelenting, thought provoking, real, needed!

With temperatures rising and the risk of disasters growing, our world is increasingly vulnerable. Most people see disasters as freak, natural events that are unpredictable and unpreventable. But that simply isn't the case - disasters are avoidable, but when they do strike, there are strategic ways to manage the fallout.

In Disasterology, Dr. Montano, a disaster researcher, brings readers with her on an eye-opening journey through some of our worst disasters, helping readers make sense of what really happened from a emergency management perspective. She explains why we aren't doing enough to prevent or prepare for disasters, the critical role of media, and how our approach to recovery was not designed to serve marginalized communities. Now that climate change is contributing to the disruption of ecosystems and worsening disasters, Dr. Montano offers a preview of what will happen to our communities if we don't take aggressive, immediate action. In a section devoted to the COVID-19 pandemic, what is thus far our generation's most deadly disaster, she casts light on the many decisions made behind closed doors that failed to protect the public.

A deeply moving and timely narrative that draws on Dr. Montano's first-hand experience in emergency management, Disasterology is essential reading for anyone who wants to understand how our country handles disasters, and how we can better face them together.
